I have a 22 Hybrid Lariat with all the bells and whistles. I noticed that when I or someone else walks near the truck, I can hear relays clicking on and off. This happens both when the key FOB is near or not even around. I am aware there are plenty of sensors all over the truck for various functions but don't see why they need to do all that opening and closing just because someone is near the vehicle. This is when it is unlocked and no alarms are set. It is also in a garage at the time. Is this unique to mine or do others notice this too?

Same here and I find it annoying. New fangled technology I guess.

This is my third hybrid and is the first time I have ever heard the relays. The earlier ones must have had good sound dreading or they just didn't do it. The previous one was a 2018 Honda Accord and before that was a Lincoln MKZ.

Same here but I know it is alive when I'm around her. No power or battery issues at 8,800 miles on the hybrid.

It’s not entirely a Hybrid issue. My Ecoboost Lariat Lux does a lot of that when I’m around it with my fob as well.

They both do, but the noises are rather different. Hybrids are a bit more jarring, especially if you're not expecting it...

I had no idea this was a thing. I haven't heard anything like this from my hybrid. I know vehicles would make this sound after they were shut off and the engine was cooling down. Glad to hear it seems to be a normality.
One more example of how helpful the members of this club are. If not for the MTC, where would Spook go to find out all is ok?

You are right! I am older than most of the people here but something new always comes along and I always try to check with someone that has been there before. Thanks to all of those that responded.

My Lariat lux is quite the talker as well. "Click, Clack, snoosh, snosh, fuwhoop, clickity, tickity, tockity". With all that crap 'watching', it's no wonder it goes to sleep after a few days.

Some of it is related to keyless entry on Lariat trim. It won't do it if the fob is out of range. Since the op stated he has noticed it even without a fob in his pocket he can re-test.

Even without a fob or on a non Lariat if you open a door it will start more relays.

My wife's Bronco has keyless entry also and even goes a step further, it will unlock a locked door before you touch the handle. Similar noises. Also does the relays if you open an unlocked door without a fob.

Whenever I park mine in the garage, I always touch the handle to lock it as it reduces the clicking significantly while parked. The brain is still working, but it takes a cat nap for a while.
