What are you talking about LoL. This was my last attempt to break the 500 mark it was as I was pulled into the gas station. I think it's just me, I have the money for gas. other people say that too but I'm used to running on fumes while pulling into the station 😬 My dad was the same way. Would run on fumes. And my mother would always yell about it.

I have the $ for gas too and have similar gas prices as per your receipt, but I am shy about running it down to fumes like you did.. Did that once on a trip for work using my infinity G35.. literally waiting to turn in to the gas station at then end of my 480 mile trip, fuel light on and needle on E for the past 30 miles..then stall out. Lol

I forgot to mention to everyone. I was using 87 octane from QuikTrip during my 500+ mile run.

Guys, I remember gas price wars in the mid 60's. One station posts prices at 40 cents per gallon, The station across the street drops it to 35 cents a gallon.

Been a strange month for gas prices here in NJ. Was like 3.70 then joined to like 4.00 overnight. Now coming back down. All within a month wierd.

If you're really from Wisconsin, Kwik Trip with a K is where it is at!! None of this Q business.

When I first got my Maverick I wasn't getting the gas mileage I am now. I think the engine needs to break in for at least 1,000 to 2,000 miles and then it starts going up. At first I think I was averaging around 26 MPG. But I wasn't driving in Eco mode and I was heavier on my foot. I came from a 2001 Ford ranger with a 4.0 V6 I was getting around 19. MPG. Anything over 25 mpg I'm happy with.
Did you get that milage with ethanol?

Gotta fill up today for my monthly driving. Unfortunately, I don't pay much attention to the gas prices since I don't drive much. Had my XL a year and it has 3456 miles on it. Thankfully East Texas gas is a little lower than other places in the country.

Edit: Just checked the gas prices online and it's $2.94 a gallon at the Lindale Texas Brookshire's Food Store. So, I'll use my grocery points and get $.30 to $.40 off the gallon price. That's the cheapest in a long time.

I do have it turned on, but for some reason in eco mode it doesn't shut the engine off much. Not sure why that is. I don't know if it's true, but I've heard that Auto start stop uses more gas. And that the auto start stop is for emissions control.

It does not work (as much) when it is cold outside.

It does not hurt MPG, it helps MPG by a lot, when it works (mild weather, not too hot, not too cold).

It is going to help with emissions, sure. Fewer gallons burned = fewer emissions out the tailpipe.

And it's hard on internal engine parts and turbo bushings. There are tests for bearing wear and part of it involves how long oil takes to travel through all the passageways. I always turn mine off.
