Low VIN for a Nov 28, 2022 build date. . . ?

I just noticed that my VIN for the Maverick going into production (Nov 28, 2023) is XXXXXXXXXXXA07936 (that's a cut and paste from the email). From what I have gathered from posts in this club, I thought the last 6 digits started with 'A' for the first 100,000 and 'B' for the second 100,000. Making my converted MY22-MY23 order from the first 10,000 of the first 100,000 Mavericks. . . huh?

I don't know what to think about that low A07936 serial number so late in the game. . . Could Ford have assigned that VIN at the time of the order (Oct 23rd, 2021), even then, there were more ahead of my order. . . . had to be.

Does anybody have an explanation?

You are getting a 2023 model year vehicle produced in the first week or two of the model year. The numbering would start at 0 or 1 for the model year. The VIN number you received agrees with these facts.

Perhaps you are confused since you called this a converted MY22-MY23. Anything built as a 23 is a fresh 23 order. There was no simple shifting from 22 to 23. That isn't how it works, and anything produced in 23 will have a 23 VIN number, blind to any history there is with when the original order (which was canceled) was placed.

Looks like yours is a 2023, which means you’re one of the first 10,000 off that model year. That would explain the low VIN.

'23 is a new model year, so the consecutive unit numbers start over again. Your VIN aligns with an early production '23. The fact it's a '22 rollover has nothing to do with VIN assignment for the next model year.

I'm also scheduled for November 28-- my VIN is about 60 off from yours, however my order was placed on September 16, 2022-- I never ordered a 22.

Your MY22 that you reordered in Sept should have been given a code 10 priority which would put you at the front of the line at your Dealer.

I ordered a '23 on September 15th. Build date is 12/5, VIN is A08426

New order on Sept 15th, 12/19 build date, but just in front of you with A08417. So obviously they don't build them sequentially.

I ordered 2023 sept 22, 2022 for EB engine XLT with VIN A04756 with scheduled build date Nov 28, 2022!
