My truck just died after I parked at my kid’s daycare and turned it off. Once doing that the whole thing is completely dead, zero electronics on the thing function. No door locks, or lights, or anything.
I locked it up manually and my wife picked me and the kids up. I’ll be headed back over there soon to check the 12v battery.
8200 miles seems fast for a battery to die, but I think I’ve read here or elsewhere the batteries coming out of the factory are crap.

There are several threads on this issue, unfortunately. There is now a TSB so the dealership should be able to address it.

All batteries are crap nowadays. Years ago you'd buy a battery and the acid would be in a bottle. Before install you'd add the juice and water charge it, install it good to go. Then they started doing this at the battery factory still ok as they were made in the U S A. Now they're made in China, put in a warehouse then a boat then another warehouse. Eventually into your new car or on a shelf at an auto parts store who knows how many months or years that battery has sat before it's first crank.

Odds are its NOT the 12v battery that is causing problems

Someone recently suggested that the truck in this condition can be self-jumped, from under the back seat to the jump posts under the hood. That’s if the 12v battery is not depleted and the battery harness connection under the battery fuse box has separated. It would have to be a pretty long set of jumper cables though.

Most foreign-manufacture auto batteries I've seen have been from Mexico, not China.

Right. It will be the copper cable with black insulation where it is crimped to the aluminum lug under the hood near the jump-start connections. There are two black cables - it will likely be the back one. This seems very common. They can replace or repair the harness. I prefer the repair if they are going to replace it with the same part. If the way that the replacement part is manufactured has not changed, it will just happen again.

12.5 Volts at the battery. 2.5 at the end of the wiring harness that’s been pointed out in other threads.
Immediately below and to the right of said harness is a positive terminal. Was able to jump the truck to get it home, and as soon as I turned it off it went dead again. Taking it to ford first thing in the morning.

DCP is the most accurate and probable, repair is the way to go.........................

Regardless of mfg location the process is still the same. It is common nowadays to get new batteries that are dead or dying at time of purchase.
