Wow, this takes the cake! My '25 Hybrid AWD Lariat locked itself up in full accessory power on mode when I went to start the truck. It won't start, it won't shut down. The battery light is on and a symbol of a red outline truck with an exclamation mark on the middle. A warning told me to stop the truck. Hell, it never started to move!

For two weeks I have been calling a Ford dealer to schedule service with no call back. The 120vac went out and the rear brakes give out during moderate braking. I mean a solid lurch in the truck like I took my foot off of the brake pedal, but I'm pushing it and now suddenly pushing harder to stop where I intended to. I hear a clunk in the rear end.

Since no dealer is open on Memorial day, I'll alter my plans and clean out my Maverick. I guess my 2000 Expedition is going to be working for me today. Tomorrow I switch to my '22 F-350.

I do like my Maverick but this thing is full of glitches and bugs! I just had two recalls performed earlier this month. It sucks that I have to leave this truck on and in the way. Boy a wrecker is going to have a fit trying to get to this truck after all this rain!

Nice! Better get a charger, OBD 2 Scannerr and voltage meter.

Time for a different vehicle. If that were me I'd be done with it. No confidence.

A ScanGauge would be handy to have in this case, as the clunk is known to be part of the AWD system (if you have it), but the lurching comes from the hybrid system very suddenly deactivating due to HV battery weirdness, and that you can see in HVB voltage and amperage readings. My theory (I wasn’t able to definitively test) is that Ford has a bad batch of contactors out there.

Mostly happy motoring. I came back 30 min later and the display was off. The truck fired right up with some message on the radio that I didn't catch. It looked like a download progress screen then disappeared. I have the truck set to perform updates at 1am so I don't think that would have been it. No check engine light, no warnings so I filled up the gas tank.

I guess I'll resume my day and make an appt with FORD in person so they don't ignore me any more. The old faithful Expedition drove fine for my errands. It's amazing that a truck, twenty six years old outperforms this sickly little Maverick, lol.

FYI: I have had FORD and O'Reilly Auto Parts both test the 12v battery and each time it has been good. Two dealers tested it actually.

I'll have the battery tested again. Ford will only replace on demand at full retail price plus labor. Unless the battery tested bad. I don't think it was a low battery voltage issue.

My scanner is in my Nissan Altima locked in the shop that's fixing the AC. I can pick that up tomorrow. I'll scan for codes and post my findings.

Yeah, my confidence level in this truck just took a severe hit. The shutdown timer was still operable, so the truck shut down after 30 minutes. Once it was off, the issue reset.

I suspect the can bus dropped out or a module lost communication. Due to my work/life schedule, I can't unload and surrender the truck until Wednesday at the earliest. Regardless, it's going back to Ford for a while.

I carry a jump box since the 12v battery went dead on me three times. As long as the control module sees 12v, the hv battery will start the truck engine. Once the engine is running the M1 will charge the hv battery. The hv system then charges the 12v battery.

I won't buy another Maverick hybrid, made in Mexico with flawed hardware and software. When I retire, so does this truck. I have the FORD 100,000 mile ESP, so it's Ford's headache until then.

Sorry about all the issues your having with your Maverick. Please keep us informed as to what the dealer says. I do notice you made mention of a clunk from the rear end. Does this clunk happen to occur when slowing down around 13 mph by chance? If so there are a bunch of us who have this 13 mph thud, clunk or thunk noise that happens when slowing down around 13 mph when the AWD system engages itself for the next acceleration. I'm not sure if this is the clunk you are referring to but figured I would ask. Here are some other threads on that particular issue in case your interested:
