I'm assuming the "solar panels" on the tailgate are just a wrap because they would serve no purpose. But then I look at the truck and see that matches the roof exactly. So, there isn't a single solar panel here. I would like to be wrong, but this appears to be all show and no substance.

But I like the concept overall. Even for EB trucks, having panels like that would be great for those of us that plan to use the truck for camping.
That's so tailgaters with brights on give you some juice!

Like the low profile cap, does limit what you can put in there however. I have had both hi and low caps on my Courier, Nissan and Ranger trucks over the years. The high cap really did add to the utility. I removed the low caps when I really needed to.

Looks like they definitely color-matched the bed rail guards (black plastic on all Mavs)

Looks like you can have a battery powered inverter in the bed and charge it with the solar panels. You could then have power outlets for things like power tools or camping accessories.

I think the question is... are those really solar panels? That looks like a wrap and not solar panels. So, the batteries are being charged by fairy dust as far as we can tell. Is there information on the panels themselves?

I too am unsure about that. the Sign on the bap does talk about solar. Maybe in a production version that will be an option but on the one on display its just a wrap. This is interesting for me as I like using my solar generator right now to charge up my Ryobi 40V batteries. Right now I just put the panel in my driveway when I need it. With this I could just charge the battery in the back of the truck.

I like the concept. I just hope this wasn't snake oil. Details would help.

Yeah for sure. Even if they didnt release it with the solar I'm sure you could mount some panels on the roof and buy one of the many available battery powered inverters.

This was the company that provided the solar panels on the Mach E om Fords SEMA booth last year

No clue if it is the same this year though.

good question for an attendee. how high does the door open?

from a photo on the back door label (zoomed in) it look like it opens parallel to ground. I'm only a foot too tall. *sigh*

Solar "panel" many not be the most accurate term. Modern solar cells are nearly paper thin. The bulky panel around them is only for mounting support and protection. Applied directly to the truck/cap, they don't need support. I would be more concerned with how they will hold up in a hailstorm with no plexiglass cover on top of them.
