I had ants coming into mine within the first week I bought it. I noticed they were coming in through the driver side as well near the sea pedal. I figure they’re probably coming in from the same general area.
Where's the sea pedal? sounds like something on a boat.

Welp it's over. It was a field mouse. It entered from behind the brake/gas pedals. Still can't tell from where exactly. The poor guy chewed his own leg and tail off so I put it out of it's misery. Thanks to everyone who offered advice.

Put some Decon under your truck in the Garage. If you have pets that go through the garage pick it up. I keep Decon in my garage year round. Mice like to eat the plastic shield on your electric wires. Once you have mice they are hard to get rid of. You may have to put the Decon on the floor of your truck. You can use mouse traps also. Keep your windows closed and the food scraps picked up.

This thread brought back unpleasant memories. We had a mouse die inside the instrument panel of our Kia Soul. That was $1,500 in disassembly to get the reeking body out. They will crawl inside through the craziest paths, gnawing their way through plastic. Then get stuck and die.

I've had mice build nests in the air cleaners of my parked-outside Ranger. Now and then the truck would sit undriven for a week - that's all it takes. And squirrels. And mice have eaten through the spark plug wires. In the country, that's how it goes. And we had cats - obviously lazy cats.

If there weren't various holes in the Maverick cab, then the Maverick would probably float.
Being from Pennsylvania, as you profile describes, you may have mice trying to hitch a ride to a warmer climate before winter hits PA.
I don't have a clue where they are entering or how to eliminate them other than the traditional snap trap baited with cheddar cheese.
Good Luck !

My brand new hybrid Mav was delivered to me from the dealership with rat turds on top of the engine! I've found nothing inside the cab (yet) but in the past I've experienced chewed engine wiring ($400 repair) caused by mice and/or chipmonks setting up house on top of my Mazda B3000 engine. Unfortunately my Mav is parked outside and only 10 feet from a sunflower seed bird feeder. Is there anything (trap, poison, etc.) I can mount securely in the engine bay to deter the little buggers?

Check the cabin air filter, they commonly get in Toyotas through the cabin air intake.

I recommend setting the trap again. Mice don't work alone.

We use ultrasonic mice repellant devices in both our Maverick and our Mini Cooper. (The Mini had an air intake wide enough for mice to walk in by! So we also covered the opening with steel mesh.)

We use this: https://www.amazon.com/s?k=loraffe+...648672&tag=googhydr-20&ref=pd_sl_6ybiw661py_e

That said, we have also used Peppermint oil with good results. (We also use it on the filter of our kitchen composter bin to deter fruit flies.)

Recently had this happen in our van. Went on for like 2 summers. It's not worth trying to find holes and plug them up. Mice can get through just about anything. Instead of forcing them to eat their way in, deal with the area around the vehicle. If you are using a garage, we basically eliminated this by getting about 15 traps around the garage. Our best success has been with the link below. I was able to eliminate at least 6+ mice with these. I recommend a little peanut butter in the bate area. I also have poison traps around, but don't recommend those as much because they could eat the poison, climb in a wall and die. Do I still use them? Yes...I like to live dangerously. Now, I still see some droppings around the perimeter of the garage, but we have not had a mouse in the van in a long time. The mice just don't have the incentive to go looking in the vehicle for food when where is plenty along of "food" along the walls.
