I live in a rural area and use regular moustraps baited with peanut butter, placed under the hood on top of the engine. We have a Toyota Prius Prime and I caught 3 in one week after my wife saw one in the cabin.

It's a little bit of a pain moving the trap each morning, but better than the hassle and expense of chewed wires.

I discourage anyone from using moth balls due to toxicity, not to mention future resale value. I would never buy a vehicle that smelled like paradichlorobenzene or any other chemicals.
I didn't say to use the camphor smelling things, just said they will work. Snap traps with peanut butter or glue traps with peanut butter in the middle work too. Maybe you can get one of them ultrasonic noise things that plugs into a cigar lighter socket. I have never seen one of those made like that, but then again, I never looked for one either.

I'm an animal lover like everybody else, but unless it's a pet you keep in a cage. mice and rats are pests. Glue trap, just roll it up, and in the trash, snap trap, leave the carcass on an ant hill, and let em do their work.

I had issues with rats for awhile. My neighbor had dogs and left the food bowls outside at night. He ended up with the damn things in his attic. They got under the hood of my truck. They chewed a few new sparkplug wires, and nibbled on my battery ground cable. Left pecan shells everywhere.

After I replaced the chewed wires, vacuumed up the rat shit and nut shells, i steam cleaned everything then opened a box of mothballs and left it under the hood. Sprinkled them under the truck where I keep it parked, and set rat traps with peanut butter in other locations of activity I noticed. I snapped a few dirty rats.

Eventually shithead moved, and the property management cleaned up the property which looked like an effing scrap yard, the issue went away.

I honestly don't know how a mouse would get into your truck with the doors closed. Have you checked your air filter, to see if it could have chewed through that?

Many years ago, I was traveling around the country in an old '84 Subaru to climb in various areas like Yosemite, Hueco, etc. Somewhere along the way, I mouse managed to catch a ride with me. I sometimes slept in the car on long segments, and the damn critter would wake me up. At first, I could just rock the car a bit, kick something, etc., and the mouse would quite down again. On a few occasions, I tried leaving the doors open to give it a way out, but it seemed very happy in my car. Reluctantly, I finally set a snap trap.
Great story!

This is an interesting take on the sunflower seeds on water in a bucket method of mouse elimination!
I've used the barrel of water trap trick...but quit it when I looked in the barrel expecting to see a rat and there was a possum swimming around in the barrell...scared the crap out of me, thinking I'd caught a giant rat. Hate fricking rats!!!!

Most all vehicles have air outlets at the bottom of the door to let air pressure out when you slam the door shut. When the Mini-Cooper was re-released 15 yrs ago their doors were so tight they had to modify their software. When you opened the front doors to get in or out, the software lowered both side windows 1/2 an inch to let air pressure out, after slaming the door(s) closed the side window went back up.

Wiring, steering and brake cables are going into the cockpit of the Maverick goes thru the firewall these can't be air tight due to flexing of the truck hitting bumps/potholes, etc so they're a common place for intruders.

Nothing this morning...new droppings but nothing caught, repositioned the traps and will keep trying...reexamined under the steering wheel by the pedals and glove box as well as under the hood and by the air filter. No evidence of damage that would have been caused by a mouse.

What are you baiting the trap with? Peanut butter works great.

I had ants coming into mine within the first week I bought it. I noticed they were coming in through the driver side as well near the dead pedal. I figure they’re probably coming in from the same general area.

Anyone else have this issue? Where do they get in? Every morning there's droppings in the cup holders other open places nearby.
I would guess the air vents behind the rear seat
