As my very savvy wife told me over a year ago, it is not an order, it's an option. If you order, you might get a new truck at MSRP. If you don't order, you may get to pay a whopping great additional dealer mark up. Even on a used Maverick.

My very savvy wife had her eyes bug out after they priced the base Honda Ridgeline at $52K. The Ridgeline gets lower MPG than her V8 F150. Same with the Frontier.

I think those that ordered the EcoBoost Mavericks will get their orders built. Hybrids not so much.

I hate to vent here because it's not the forum or other members fault, but this has be one of the worst buying experiences I've ever had as far as customer service is concerned. This isn't a $20 Amazon purchase... or a return at Home depot (which are handled with a fair amount of wisdom and courtesy), but it's a multi thousand dollar expense.
- Aug 2021 totaled my 2 year old vehicle (sorry elk)... need a replacement. I drive a 100 miles plus a day so a hybrid or vehicle that gets reasonable mileage is a priority.
- Research on my part comes across a new Ford vehicle... a small hybrid pickup. Wow. That sounds great. I think that would fit my needs.
- Aug 2021 I order online (no deposit needed? great) and then head to the dealer to finalize. Sorry they say, we have to have a deposit to place the order. OK I say and hand them $1000 and for the first time in my life, order a new vehicle that is exactly like i want it. Color, options etc... great I can't wait. Dealer said possibly by November but worst case by end of year.
- In the mean time can't do without another vehicle, so I go buy something else. I know I'm going to loose money on it, but oh well. It will only be a few short months and I'll be trading it in and it won't be too bad.
- End of 2021... well after following the forums. Seems like the wait will be a little longer than expected. Want the Maverick so I'll hang in there and wait.
- Jan, Feb, March, Apri 2022... no updates from Ford. Other than what I read on the forums, I have no idea what the status is or when I might expect to actually get my truck.
- April 2022 progress! I finally get an email form Ford. I have a production date of early Jun 2022. It's been a long wait but great news.
- Jun 2022... nothing from Ford, but after numerous chats and phone calls to customer service I find out production date had been changed to later in Jun 2022
- Later in Jun 2022, nothing from Ford but calls and chat reveal date changed again to late Jun 2022.
- Late Jun 2022... nothing from Ford, but via calls and chat discover production date has changed to early Aug 2022.... then mid Aug 2022... then late Aug 2022.
- Aug 30th 2022. Message from Ford. "Your Maverick is built and is awaiting shipping! It may take a few day to a week but your vehicle will soon be on it's way".
- 2 weeks later. Nothing from Ford. Calls to customer calls and chat to customer service always says I can check the status online (which provide no updates).
- Late Sept 2022. Calls and chat tell me now shipping/delivery is mid Oct 2022.
- Call today.. First time I really vented to Ford customer service rep (sorry to her) but now they say expected delivery is end of Oct 2022.

Moral of the story?
Don't expect any valid updates from Ford on the status of your vehicle.
Don't expect what they do tell you to be true and not change.
Don't expect any valid info or insight from Ford as to your expected delivery date.
Don't expect the dealer to have any more information to help make you feel better.
Do expect... or at the very least not be surprised if these same things happen to you.
Do expect to see others with the exact same order as yours receive their vehicle months ahead of you.
Do make an $10 Amazon order if you want some reasonable customer service if it's late.
Don't order a multi thousand dollar vehicle from Ford and expect a reasonable time frame for delivery, to be informed and updated with information you can rely on, or to be treated as a valued customer.
Do cancel your order if you want to hurt no one but yourself and make the dealer an extra $15 thousand dollar profit.
Good luck to all those who ordered a 2023. My condolences in advance for what many of you will have to go through . Sorry for the vent and I must admit, it didn't help and I'm still frustrated.
At least you know your Maverick has been built and is waiting to be delivered. I wish I was in your shoes. I ordered mine Oct. 14, 2021. Never received an email from Ford saying the order was received, but multiple phone calls from me to my dealer and to the Ford Marketing customer service at least confirmed that my order was in the system. Initially I was a "priority 19" and stayed that way until earlier this month (Sept. 2022). Then I get a call from my dealer saying my truck will now be a 2023 model year. I just had to confirm that I still wanted it (which I did) and they then placed the "new" rollover order. Still no VIN or any anticipated build date, but I was told I am now a "priority 10", which is an improvement of 9 from where I was for almost a year. So while you are unhappy with your current situation, at least you are near the finish line whereas most of us are still in limbo. Count your blessings.

It seems everyone at the top levels of FOMOCO is an absolute imbecile! Infrastructure to mostly do an ordering system needs to be in place first. Any order should only be taking a max of 3 months to be delivered. Absolutely, moronic for any company to think having zero communication and taking a year or going into a model year change over and having to re-order is sustainable.

Yes, I realize there are supply constraints but if that’s still the case then just stop with relying heavily on custom orders that can’t be filled until infrastructure is in place.
Even if that is true about the top levels of FOMOCO, what does that make all of us who are holding out our hands full of cash for a chance at a 2023 Maverick?

I feel you OP. Pretty much same timeline relatively. Ordered Sep 30 21. Got vin in April for June 6 build week, got pushed consistently until being built 8 25 22. Now, a month later, still “awaiting shipment” with no communication or anyone to provide any kind of insight. Seeing a plethora of people getting their trucks that were built early september. Been told I have no holds or delays yet it just sits at the yard in Mexico and doesn’t leave for any reason. No clue why. Dealer has been great up to this point but they have no info either and I can’t blame them, they don’t ship the truck themselves. Fully expected to have it after it got built and figured I was done with the nonsense and nope now here we are a month later not shipped.

We are all in the same rudderless boat. I ordered Nov 4, 2021 and have nothing. We received notice it was built August 29, 2022, but has been sitting beside the train tracks for a month now. Ford has NO customer service, inventory management and this experience explains that I should have known that was coming. I owned a Pinto 50 years ago, Ford has learned nothing in five decades.

I can definitely understand your frustration. I also ordered Maverick in Sept 2021, no down payment. My Ford dealership gave me great news last wk, my truck is built, then shipped, now awaiting delivery from OR to WA around mid Oct.
How do I know , I have Vin# confirmation. I hope your patience is rewarded soon

Since I started this thread, thought I'd post a followup. Ordered my Hybrid, XLT, Lux, 360 in Aug 2021. Received a built email from Ford on Aug 30, 2022. Intially they said should ship within a week. Calling customer support estimated shipping date was changed to late Oct 2022. Last week got another email form Ford saying expected shipping delayed to late Nov 2022. Got an email from my dealer this morning and they received my Maverick yesterday. Checked on the Ford tracking and still says built awaiting shipment. Going this afternoon to pick it up. Hope all goes smoothly and it was worth the wait!

If you ordered in September 22 from one of Fords favorite dealers, you'll be driving a maverick by February. Doesn't matter supply chain or options. That's just their excuse to screw over early orders to keep their favored dealers happy. If you ordered from the "wrong" dealer. You'll never get your truck. That's how Ford does business. There were guys with base model xls that took more than a year to build... and guys who COMPLAINED when their december order took a few months to be delivered (they ordered from the "right" dealers).

Wow, and from Ford! Thanks. All went well and the new Maverick made it home. The dealer didn't give me the free FIT's kit I was told I'd get. Anyone know how I'm supposed to receive it?

It'll be in a box with your VIN on it. Likely sitting on a shelf in the dealerships parts department right now. That said, you aren't missing much. That kit is not worth the 50 bucks Ford charges for it.
