I ordered my XLT Hybrid Oct 29th of 2021. It was finally built the middle of Sept. 2022 and shipped fairly quickly. By rail it went from Mexico to Illinois(?). I live in South Georgia. From there, it went to Jacksonville Fl. by rail. Now for the last two weeks, it has been sitting in Jacksonville waiting for a transport.
This is the first new vehicle that I have ordered. So I have no prior experience to look back on. But this has been one process that I never intend to repeat. My hope is that the Maverick will prove to be well worth the wait. If I ever get it.

Well look at it this way. You may have one of the most defect free Mavericks built. The rest of us sit and wait for the next recall notice. I've bought a lot of cars and never through a process like this. But it wasn't bad, nice to anticipate a good thing. Now back to ordering more "stuff"!!!

Mine was built Sept. 19th. No idea where it is now. Says shipped and my expected delivery date is this week. I sure hope so.

Ford should show some class and throw in something, maybe a Tonneau, at least at cost. Ford sometimes does not show that they know they have caused some significance aggravation and stress with the delayed deliveries. I know of a dozen people (and likely hundreds more) on this board that had to wait for a year for delivery, yet others that ordered after them had their trucks delivered months earlier.

Central Florida here...ordered 10-23-21. Built Sept. 12, shipped Sept. 14, arrived Taft, FL (Orlando) yesterday. Need 8 vehicles to fill a car carrier to our dealer, so...likely today or tomorrow. Fingers crossed!

Where did you get the car carrier info? My order is waiting on one but I don't don't know who or when and have no way to track it. All I know is the rail shipment has terminated a while ago.

With diesel prices like they are, they likely aren't running a carrier if it isn't full. Especially if it isn't local. I think the only way to get that information is to call the dealer. But that will ultimately depend on the size of the dealership as larger dealerships will have carriers constantly on the move while the smaller one will wait between deliveries.

No info on that. Dealership has several vehicles that should also be in Taft/Orlando waiting for pickup by a car carrier. Again, any trucker will wait for a full load of 8 vehicles before making the pickup.

Well, so much for that. Where I live, we don't even have a Ford dealer in my county. I have to go to a county in the next time zone for the closest Ford dealer. Ford says that it is supposed to be delivered this week, but we all know how that goes.

It gets complicated. They aren't going to be looking to dispatch a hauler with an incomplete load. That doesn't mean that all the vehicles in the load are from the same factory, or destined for the same dealer.

As an example, see this thread. Mavericks are sent by rail all the way from Hermosillo up to Michigan Assembly Plant, where they can be carried in mixed loads with Bronco Sports, Broncos, and Rangers, plus anything else they might bring in by rail.

Another example, my Escape was part of a mixed load between Escapes for that dealer and Lincoln Corsairs at a nearby Lincoln dealer. Both are built at Louisville Assembly so they just loaded up the truck there for the ~400 mi journey with 2 stops.

On top of that, they need to actually be able to pair an available truck and driver.

Logistics are complicated.

I agree. Like I said, calling the dealer is going to be the only way to get an estimate at this juncture and it will 100% depend on the dealership. Larger dealers will have carriers constantly moving and so it may be easier to put the truck on it. Smaller dealerships will be at the mercy of the logistics randomness.

Why should Ford throw in free stuff due to things outside their control like supply chain shortages and delivery labor shortages?

There is plenty they have done poorly (see the order cataloge available hours ahead of bank opening or lack of clearly defined dates for ordering, etc). But they created a system for you to get the exact specs you want, ability to get updates relatively easily directly through them, price protection and shelter from ADM. Tradeoff is you have to wait. The buyer being tired of waiting isn't their problem...

There was a point in time (not long ago) that ordering something simple like steak knives from the TV took 8 weeks to deliver. A custom made car in a year doesn't seem crazy considering what is going on in the world. It takes me 64 weeks to get switchgear for a construction project now. Just be patient or buy off the lot for what you can get.

When I order my vehicles I adopt the attitude of “ when it gets here it gets here and I will get a call“. This was exceedingly easy to do with the maverick since the dealer did not even want a deposit when I ordered it a year ago. Welcome to the New World🤪
