Then why do they do it?
Google tracks you too. So what? It's to sell you more stuff. They want your money, not your soul. What is it you're doing or where are you going that you care whether someone tracks you or not? Be boring and no one will care.

This thread was guaranteed to bring out all the chest thumpers to howl at the moon because it concerns EVs and China.
Also a bunch of people theorizing about China stealing their data, as if the Chinese government gave a flying flip about any of them. 😆

You will never be able to buy one in this country, or domestic manufacturers and dealers will make sure of that, they have a lot of sway. And secondly it’s made of 100% Chinesium The chintziest cheesiest material made on the planet Earth.
Trucks are meant for work, and will get banged up and scratched and flog down the road for 200,000 miles, Do you think you can get this out of that, wishful thinking. Dreamers dream and haters hate.
General Motors is selling a Chinese built SUV as we type.

My point. It doesn't take the "evil Chinese" to produce poor and dangerous products. Any company that puts profit ahead of safety can do that, including many American companies. Pay attention to what they do and produce, not just who they are or where a product is made. "Ye shall know them by their works."

So that's it...it's about "care". I'll pass.

In the early 70’s.
Pickups used to have the gas tanks in the cab. Things have evolved.

Unless they produce it here. Ford ought not get too comfortable in thinking they have this market to themselves. Maverick demand shows there's a huge market for small hybrid and EV pickups and you can bet competitors are taking notice.
Again, I doubt a chinese company will be producing trucks here anytime soon. China is focusing on selling their cars to Russia now that automakers are leaving Russia.

Toyota will probably be next to have a hybrid Maverick competitor a few years from now. Ram and GM will come up with something.

I remember the news of Geely bringing a large mini-truck modeled after a 4-door japanese K-truck back in 2010 or so. Needless to say, that didn’t work out.

I'm not sure if I can take a Chinese-made pickup seriously, but on the other hand if this company Geely who is apparently now the parent company of Volvo is for real, this little EV pickup could possibly be a Maverick Challenger. What do you think?

And I don’t think the American buying public will be standing in line to buy some more Chinese garbage.

So you're only half right. For towing they're terrible, but EV trucks can handle hauling things in the bed without a problem.

If you're buying a truck to tow, an EV doesn't work great. But there are a lot of uses for a pickup that don't require towing at all.
They're great for towing, just not towing very far...

No need to buy the Chinese truck when we are about to have multiple options in US made EV trucks. Rivian, Lightning, Silverado, Ram, and soon Ranger and Maverick (trdemarked names at least).

Everyone is so focused on the towing issue for EV trucks. Yes it's a real issue, which is why there will be gas and hybrid trucks for years to come. Buy what fits your use case.

Perhaps in the future trailers will come with a supplemental battery pack to extend the range of the truck
