This thread was guaranteed to bring out all the chest thumpers to howl at the moon because it concerns EVs and China.

You will never be able to buy one in this country, or domestic manufacturers and dealers will make sure of that, they have a lot of sway. And secondly it’s made of 100% Chinesium The chintziest cheesiest material made on the planet Earth.
Trucks are meant for work, and will get banged up and scratched and flog down the road for 200,000 miles, Do you think you can get this out of that, wishful thinking. Dreamers dream and haters hate.

Nope. I would rather wrestle a gaggle of tigers while wearing pork chop undies in a pond filled with crocs during a thunderstorm while tied to a massive copper wire.

The Chinese manufacturers will make any product to any quality level you desire. If Geely wants to have a quality trucklet. They will build it. If they want a cheap, get it on the market trucklet they will build that also. U get what you pay for.

MY FIRST THOUGHT!!! You would have to be out of your mind to buy that vehicle. Why make it even easier for the enemy to track you.
I hope that comment wasn't serious. Are you that paranoid? What makes you think you are -that- important that the "enemy" wants to track you? You're not nearly as interesting as you believe.

I'm not sure if I can take a Chinese-made pickup seriously, but on the other hand if this company Geely who is apparently now the parent company of Volvo is for real, this little EV pickup could possibly be a Maverick Challenger. What do you think?

And here's some video

Have you heard of the chicken tax? Yeah, China won’t be selling a truck in the US anytime soon.

Unless they produce it here. Ford ought not get too comfortable in thinking they have this market to themselves. Maverick demand shows there's a huge market for small hybrid and EV pickups and you can bet competitors are taking notice.

As much as NIO, Geely, XPeng, and Li Auto are pricing their EV vehicles, this truck will be most likely be in the neighborhood of around $50K-$55K. Just think Lyriq (Cadillac) and Rivian pricing.

The NIO SUVs for those mentioned from China start at over $70K U$D.

If money is no issue or no object, by all means they are affordable, but for most, it will not. The Mav Lightning pricing should not be more than what a Lariat Hybrid fully loaded goes for in 2024. If so, they will not sell many.

Just my 2 cents or 2 yuan.
----------------------------------------------------------------
UPDATE: Apparently it will start at just over $25K.

Here's an article on the pricing ...... I stand corrected.

Then why do they do it?

I’ve been to China, ridden in Chinese-made cars, and slept in Chinese-built hotels… Yeah, you couldn’t pay me to buy a Chinese-made vehicle. I wouldn’t even take it for free, as it would probably spontaneously combust in the garage.
Like the Buick Envision?
