I’m sharing this video I watched last night - Ford has acknowledged that dealers are marking prices up to insane levels and made an announcement that they will stop allocating vehicles to dealers that do so. But of course they are not honoring their pledge to punish shady dealerships. Just watch this video…it’s not about the Maverick specifically but it does address the frustration a lot of people are currently feeling with Ford—and if you think the markups people are seeing when they go to pick up their Mavs are bad, imagine ordering an F-150 Lightning only to go get it from the dealership To find they have marked it up by $40k!

Someone ordering a vehicle without a dual-signed purchase agreement from the Dealer stating the net price, dealer fees and applicable taxes deserve exactly what they get.

I wouldn’t say that. A lot of people have never bought a new vehicle so there are things that come into play that not everyone is aware of. Myself included. I’ve always just leased something off the lot. I don’t think I would “deserve” a multi thousand dollar markup just because the car buying process isn’t something I’m familiar with.

Whats a dual signed purchase agreement? 50 plus years of buying cars/trucks never had or heard of such a thing???
An actual purchase order filled out and signed by both the customer AND the sales manager. Not the order summary sheet we all got

Never had one in over 50 years never had a problem.

If your dealer is that big a turd, just think when you need service/warranty work.

No such thing exists. Dealer won't give you one. What are you gonna do? You are living in fantasy land.

Ok, I ordered at 2 dealers.

Dealer A I ordered and we signed a DORA. I didn't realize at the time that wasn't the same as a buyers order. Excuse me for not being a car sales expert. They didn't submit my order so I got nervous because of the Hybrid end date rumors so I went to dealer B.

Dealer B said they would submit it right in front of me, I would have a mandatory add on package, otherwise MSRP and refused to give me a signed purchase agreement until I had a VIN. Signed a handwritten estimate for me, which the sales manager now claims " I was not a manger then, it doesn't mean anything". I ordered there, and they submitted in front of me and I got the Ford confirmation the same day.

So the only 2 dealers near me, I took option B. It is costing me about 2k extra when all said and done. Do I deserve what I got ? Or are most dealers just scumbags, and they continue to reinforce that, every chance they get, other than the rare gems like LM)

It should not be a buyers responsibility to spend hours on the internet to avoid getting fucked over. A buyer should not have to consider dealers 60+ miles away, when there are multiple ones closer.

It is INSANE that if there is an PHEV or AWD in 24/25, I would rather drive 8 hours to West Texas or Fly to Kansas to get an honest dealer.

So you are suggesting you have nothing from your dealer that states the net price, applicable taxes, dealer fees etc. that both you and the dealer signs?

I have them for every one of the ~ 100 vehicles I’ve purchased in 50 years...

A lender won’t lend $ against a vehicle w/o a ratified, signed contract

He is saying that the dealers he went to refused to give him a signed purchase order for an ordered vehicle on the day of the order. Of course you get one the day you take delivery.

So whose responsibility is it?

Do you know the price of a house When writing a contract to purchase?

How about a loaf of bread?

My dealer gave me a signed by both of us out-the-door price three weeks ago for a truck they told me won't show up until late spring. They don't do markups on retail orders. Period. Depending on the stock order, they might. But it doesn't matter what happens to the price between now and delivery, I have the price I am going to pay and based on everyone I have talked to who has purchased from that dealership, they do exactly that.

Part of shopping around is shopping dealers. Ford can only do so much when state laws and contracts govern their relationships with dealers. Stop buying from crappy dealers and the market will take care of itself.

If a persons credit is such one had to have a dollar amount to the penny for a loan. Your credit is crap.

I've always talked with lender said I''ll need $20,000.00 plus or minus a few bucks. Answer just have dealer call us with final number.

Well my ‘fantasy land’ consists of 2 vehicle purchases this year, a $100k msrp TRX and my Maverick. I have dual-signed agreements on both to the penny when ordering.
