Mavericks now for rent at U-Haul

Got pulled over hauling a uhaul. It had bad wiring and didn’t show brakes and turn on one side according to police.
Warning for something I don’t own, sad. Friend with me temp fixed it. Reported it to manager who knew it had poor wiring, scary part wasn’t the bad wire and all. We got pulled into his back office and was surrounded by over the top White Pride Nazi WW2 junk on display. Don’t think the dealers are well vetted.

Having ordered a 23 and never even seen a Maverick I'd pay $20 for a test drive just to decide what do to for the next year or so.

What's a test drive? Didn't drive one until they we went to pick ours up.

The NAPA in Greensboro, NC has them to deliver parts as well. I'm seeing a lot of them lately. 3 owners on my street as well.

Uhauls roadside. 7 hours later back on the road. This was at about mile 1100 out of 1450 going from San antonio Texas to Cleveland ohio. To be fair i caught some road debris I couldn't avoid that blew the tire. Then limping it a half mile to the exit, turned off to get to the Loves 200 yards away the lip over the over pass send the leaf pack bye bye. Freak accident it seemed and I thank God that leaf pack held till I was only going 15mph.

Glad it worked out safely for you. I went the other way back in 1981 from Akron, Ohio to Round Rock, TX. Never looked back.

Thank you for that detailed reply! That helps a lot. I plan on moving from CT to TN next year so about similar mileage of a distance. Perhaps a tad less. So this is extremely helpful apples to apples info. Did it take them a while for uhauls roadside to get you all sorted and then back up on the road?

I agree, you lucked out for sure in regards of the leaf pack holding till you were going 15mph. That’s a knock on wood scenario for sure.

If you coordinate in the appropriate regional forum you could probably share a 24 hour period for test driving and get it done for under $10 ea.

Unfortunately after clicking "select" I can't find any dates where it's actually available. So.... if there was any question whether or not it's actually a Maverick I think that settles it.

Uhh, rental companies are customers as well. I've seen a local auto parts store and a pest control company with one in my town as well. They are also customers that ordered them like anyone else. The thing is, they are all base trucks with no constraining items to keep them from being built.

My town/city (population under 7,000) public works department has had a Maverick for at least 6 months. I don't know why some folks are so surprised that U-Haul has a couple in October of 2022.

Speaking of uhaul and mavericks.......here's how my day went.

I rented a uhaul several years back and on my way to return the empty unit the left side tire with rim came off on the freeway
