I ordered Tremor Tuesday 8:28 am = no problem. EB had their separate allocations and order closing and I suspect that Tremors had their IWN allocations and order open and closing.dates and times. Also concerning the dealers taking preorders who is to say they did not have a spread sheet they were entered into with a scripting program set up to enter them one at a time when orders were opened. They could then be entered as fast as the Ford ordering program responded to each and every "enter key pressing". Could also be programmed to reconnect automatically if connection to server was dropped. Several dozen preordered mavericks could be entered in very few minutes.
I got my tremor ordered late Monday. I actually have two mavericks ordered. A plain Jane fx4 and a loaded tremor. The wife should like it

The hard part is knowing how many of ā€œXā€ part you are going to be able to source, manufacture in house, or how many a third party will be able to make over a certain time period.

I guess ford could do extremely short order windows that only take a couple of thousand orders until the next months projected supply allocations are used up vs projecting a full year’s production.
That would also allow them to change the price throughout the year in keeping with material cost increases, inflation, and changes in interest rates.
Exactly.

I ordered on Friday 9/16/22 around 7pm from Sarasota Ford in FLORIDA. I received a confirmation email from Ford within the hour. They did the COVP. The next day 9/17/22 around 4pm I received a text from my salesman saying they sold out and not able to order anymore and that I was fortunate because I didn't hesitate. Strange they let people still order and accept deposits if they are sold out. In my opinion there was a huge lack of communication and a failure in closing the order banks when sold out. Best of luck to you and who knows I am sure someone on here may want to back out if their order and sell you theirs...

Did you get an order sheet from the dealership with an Order Code and Sales Code (top right info on page)?

If so, call 1-800-392-3673 during normal business hours and ask to confirm that it’s in.

The lady I talked to to make sure my order was in and waiting for a VIN was super nice and got me the info very quickly.

I thought I had an XLT on order - I have an "order form" in hand with the Order Code and Sales Code. Dealer took a $500 deposit gave me a receipt that said I have two days to pick up my vehicle after it arrives or they would refund my deposit and sell the vehicle as stock.

I NEVER received a confirmation email. I called the dealer and they said "all is well". I asked the dealer to correct my email address as I called Ford and Ford confirmed my order was clean. That's when I realized I was f'd. I received a call back from the sales manager who told me that my order never got saved and "some other customer" got the same number I had and my Maverick was never ordered and we'll refund your deposit.

To me, no email equates to no Maverick. I'm guessing that my Maverick was ordered and since Ford is not able to email me with the vehicles status - I won't be able to pick it up in "two days" and the dealer will have a stock vehicle.

Well, the only thing is why doesn't simply ford limit the total number of orders via software? As soon as X number of orders are entered and it closes out. This is a fairly easy thing to do in software. They could always reopen the order banks later if they decided they could handle more orders.
No doubt, people running retail out of the garage seem to manage their online sales/inventory better than Ford. Hard to believe this such a problem.

I stopped into the dealership where I ordered my Maverick & the sales manager said that 90.000 Mavericks were ordered while the order bank was open.
I heard from my dealer it was about 100k before they closed it

Dealers do not know how many overall Maverick orders were entered during the time the order banks were open.

While my experience at dealerships generally mirrors the "come away feeling dirty" that others have posted, I think that a lot of that depends on the salesperson. Since there are no end to the "bad" examples, I'll provide two good examples:

1) El Dorado Chevrolet in McKinney TX had a salesman who worked there (unfortunately no longer there). I bought four Chevys from him. Each time, I called him, told him exactly what I was looking for, and what I was willing to pay for the vehicle. (Back in the good old days, that was usually $500 above invoice, but those deals are long gone now!) He would call me back within a few hours, telling me exactly what they had available in stock, and what they could trade for with nearby dealerships, or that they would need to special order it for me. I did my own financing (USAA), and the paperwork at the dealership usually took less than 20 minutes from walk-in to drive-out. There was no back-and-forth with the sales manager, and the price we agreed on the phone was the price I paid. No muss, no fuss. That's why I bought four cars from him.

2) JD Hicks at Covert Ford in Austin, TX was great when I placed my Maverick order. We set an appointment, and when I came in, he sat me down at the ordering computer (his boss') and we entered exactly what I wanted on my Maverick. He knew what needed to be done to submit the order, took all the required information for the COVP, and I walked out of the dealership in under a 1/2 hour (most of which time was waiting on the incredibly slow Ford order system) with signed copied of my order preview, and a printout of the order enrollment page showing my valid COVP and the assigned tracking number.

So every once in a while, there are good experiences to be had...

you've only scratched the surface on #2 but agreed it sounds pretty good so far. hopefully that continues but "stay on high alert" would be my advice.

True, but compared to the "challenges" others have faced getting an order placed properly, it felt like a "win" to me... Time will tell, I suppose.

my order went pretty smoothly until I got the receipt for my deposit that said "non-refundable" on it. I did eventually get something in writing that their deposits are indeed refundable and it's just their print out can't be changed. I almost lost it on them though because it was a $1000 deposit!

Update on my original post:
I woke up around 6am and picked up my phone to see a notification of a refund if $500 on my visa card. Sure enough it was my Maverick deposit. I guess that’s my answer as to my order. I had just conversed with the sales manager Saturday afternoon and the deposit hadn’t yet been talked about and thathe would get to the bottom of what was going on with my disappearing order. While laying awake pissed off about my situation I thought about scenarios that made sense.
1. Incompetence
2. Ford really purged my hybrid order
3. Order was placed in my name but with a different order number than what I was given and when I couldn’t get confirmation they made up the purging bullshit storyline.
Perhaps they thought it would take longer for me to question anything given how much of a cluster the process has become.
So bottom line is although I haven’t been officially told my order is cancelled or wasn’t entered etc. I am not getting a truck it seems. Sucks for me but I intend to contact Ford to explain my experience and displeasure in the hopes that if Gresham Ford is doing something shady it will effect them in some way. I doubt it though.
Since I refuse to buy a used Maverick for 5-10k over it’s original msrp it will be awhile before I ever get one. Good luck to the rest of you and keep vigilant!

Did you ever get confirmation that they actually ever submitted the order? I wonder if they screwed up submitting it and are saying it was ā€œpurgedā€ to CYA their mistake and shift the blame to big Ford vs. themselves

Could be a possibility that Ford never accepted the order in the first place. In that they had affectively already ended ordering.

I never received any confirmation from Ford which is why I regularly checked from day one. I only got verbal assurances from the sales manager. I had assumed my email was never entered but the order number would not show up in customer service inquiries hence my theory that either it was never was entered due to incompetence or because that number never existed in my name and the dealer used my information to create an order with a different # but entered another email so I couldn’t be contacted by Ford.
Maybe I’ve gotten jaded as I age and this whole episode is just a screwup. I may never know the real story.
