Also you normally have no specific vent(s) selected? In my experience that also tends to make the HVAC system act in semi-autonomous mode to a certain degree.

What's your temp set at?Every restart looks like this:
But I park with the yellow A/C lamp off.

True, it auto controls fan speed based on what your setting the temp for.Oh SNAP! That button is only for FAN SPEED. Does not or should not affect A/C.
This has a high probability of being true. Does not make it right!Having had many cars with auto climate, but never a Ford, I will offer my insight based on what I know about other brands. This is likely for dehumidifying the cabin and you probably can do nothing to stop it. Just press the button.
Also, again in other brands, just because that A/C button is lit does not necessarily mean the compressor is running.I have XLT hybrid and had this same exact question when I 1st got it. What I figured out is the car "thinks" it's in auto mode even though the auto light is not on. To get it out of auto I had to press one of the fan direction mode button (notice in pic above none of the direction button is on). That takes it out of "auto" mode, make sure AC is off, next start AC should stay off.
Not sure if this is bug or just bad instructions. Hope that works for you.
I always have the front panel vents on. The problem persists. The only reason they were off was I had "just" cycled the auto button per a previous suggestion.I have XLT hybrid and had this same exact question when I 1st got it. It does when my teeth are chattering. Also, again in other brands, just because that A/C button is lit does not necessarily mean the compressor is running.
I wasn't saying the Maverick or your truck specifically, just some cars I've had will show the A/C button on all the time even when the A/C compressor was definitely disengaged. It does when my teeth are chattering.
