Got to admit the AC controls are a mess. They try to have standard old school like buttons and control dials but also have automatic temp control and hi/lo overrides.
Prius has same weird modes but you could override automatic controls to max setting temporarily (10mins) with a single button press.
Largest grip with Maverick controls other than radio. Is you have to be looking aright at it to know what button you are pressing or where dial is at.

Aaarrrggghhh!!! I want auto heat on at 67 or below and off at 69 and auto cooling on at 75 or above and off at 73. Or the ability to set my preferred ranges.

I actually like the very steady exact temp methods used in modern cars and trucks. My Prius is perfect for me left on 71 and the Maverick feels the same at 69 but airflow is bad in Maverick for some reason. Back seat bakes when I am comfortable. Can’t seem to get air flowing to favor the back seats.

My Air Conditioning always defaults to on after every key cycle (every start). I don't want A/C at 5 AM. I want to make up my own mind the rest of the time.

Anyone else's do this? Is it a user option in one of the menus?

Do I have to go to a dealer to "program" the truck not to do this?

Thanks. XLT Hybrid
You are not alone, sadly that's just how it seems work if you leave it on low to get fresh ambient temperature air. I've kind of just gotten used to turning the AC off every morning when I get in. It's kind of nice to have AC kick on on it's own if it's hot when I get in the truck in the afternoon after work though.

I have experienced the same issue and it drives me nuts. I only want the fan turned on to bring in the outside air with no temperature conditioning added and as soon as I turn on the fan control the ac button lights up. I then push the ac button to turn it off, and very time I get in the truck it happens the same way. I do have the temperature set to the “low” setting, which according to one of the responses above, that must be what is causing it ?
Setting to "Lo" defaults to.....well the coldest setting which is AC on

No. It does not work like that.

Last night I has A/C off and Temperature set to 61 deg. This morning I went out; started the truck, and yellow light was on and A/C was running. Hopefully this is dealer programmable / fixable.

Which is strange, never had a vehicle work that way before, but I've also never had a Ford before.

Did you have it in auto?

Never use auto, I like to control the fan speed.
Okay admittedly that's odd. It's hard for me to test here since it's already in the 90s by the time I head out but ima try and dig around on it.

Define "auto". Not sure XL or XLT has "auto" but it behaves like it does.

Maybe Factory screwed up and gave me a "feature" I didn't pay for!

I have to admit I have NEVER used that button. Never seen any lights lit. I'm going to cycle the button since this truck is 11 days old. Maybe it will break something loose or reset something.
