I don’t understand what this all means.
One way to think if it is that Ford likely needs to order parts and sign contracts for all the stuff they need to build the Mavericks a year in advance. They may estimate that they will make 100,000 2023 Mavericks (a made up number). They said 10% for the black appearance package which would mean that they ordered 10,000 of those. When they run out they can't make your Maverick if you ordered that. Some people may order a Maverick with several limited items on the list so they would need all of them before they would schedule your truck. There are also scheduling issues since they will not have all 10,000 black parts on the first day of production. If you need to wait three months for those black parts then by the time they come in they may be out of something else you need. Of course these numbers are not engraved in stone and they may be able to adjust them somewhat later in the year based on the demand.

I'm surprised that XL's are only getting 15%

I am predicting that with the XL trim getting Cruise control standard it will drive a good percentage from the XLT trim to the XL trim. I mean go back to June/July of 2021 and look at all the people that wanted a XL but went with an XLT because it had Cruise Control

If I read those percentages correctly those are limitations as to what they will make - in that XLs are less expensive they only want to allocate 15 percent of their yearly builds to it. Hybrid also being a fairly low percentage offering, so XL hybrid builds will be pretty limited . Wonder how they'll work this in the ordering process ...like there will be some combinations with later orders where they tell you the combination you want to order is 'sold out' and you have to pick some other combinations.

My build was completed yesterday, yeah I'm a little bummed too but now it's
Between the private offer and added cruise control on xl I’m really bummed mine got scheduled and isn’t getting rolled over
My build was completed yesterday, yeah I'm a little bummed too but now it's done and I'll probably have it next month so I'm good with it.

For future XL models, some decent rims would be nice. The steelies are OK, but some XLT rims would jazz it up a bit.

Glad cruise control will come standard on future XL models.

For the record, I love my XL. A study in simplicity, and great gas mileage for the EB version.

Razor thin margins? 2021 earnings were $17.9 Bilion on $136 Billion on revenue. My funny bone is hurting for them.
On a base hybrid? You bet it's thin. There is a reason they do the multiple trim thing. And package thing. Etc..

The base hybrid keeps them in their cafe limits... Or they can not sell their high end stuff. If you feel bad for them, you can throw a couple of bucks my way for I am retiring this month at 72 and could use the bread.😅

Who said I felt bad? There is a reason for it and you are probably right - they have to make CAFE so I can drive an ecoboost. They made more money off me than from a base hybrid, that's for sure.

Yep...we are pulling for Ford to it get their act together...their competition are watching and learning...they can also screw up and make a lot of money while screwing up...they can just blame covid like every other corporate entity.

How
I guess that makes sense. They had 2 different key fobs for the XLT before - one with a remote start button and one without. Guess that’s how it will be for Lariat now as well.
How long till the start making ford pass into a monthly subscription to use your remote start?

Or also to have Ford abandon that feature in the future do to "outdated" tech or just be in an area without cell reception- A great reason to have key fob start- Straight up no BS- Had a DEI remote start put on 2.5 years ago on a highlander- It was a nightmare - Never again.

Also, so the only real difference between XL and XLT is the wheels (and the exterior keypad, I guess)?? Any wheel option for XL other than steelies, cuz I can definitely live without the external keypad.
[/QUOTE]

XL no bronze bar front grill
Fewer tie downs in the bed.
No in bed storage compartments
No locking tailgate
No orange stitching on upholstery
Black onyx interior mixed with gray slate instead of blue mixed with gray slate
Steelies are the only wheels
As stated...
No alum wheels
No keypad

I could see it now, your maverick is too old for the ford pass update your remote start will no longer work. Didn't they just do that for GM?

Bmw owners just got hosed when all connected 3G services sunsetted years earlier than anticipated -
