Ok, lets keep passing info on this and get a solid story to approach dealership. Better, the more brains we got working on it the better off we.
Heres some pics on what i am talking about.

Well there it is, You see those springs in that dampener. That is the key to what i was feeling - I said it was electrical in nature like a harmonic. That spring assembly is exactly what's needed to create a harmonic upon engagement. I bet the electric motor-generator feels the oscillation and tries to counteract the motion of the damper springs... It would feel to me exactly what I am seeing here. We may both be correct. You nailed it.. but I don't believe it's a worn, part I believe it's a design flaw. Now what to do about it.

Mik, are you a believer now, we are all feeling what is a damper problem, its causing ALL kinds of driveline shudders and out of balance conditions.

I say again, its going to be a very big deal.

I noticed this problem first when I have 1k miles, then it happened around 5 times ever since, now it's getting close to 5.5k miles and I won't be Surprised if it happens more frequently ever since.

Mach 1,
We have been following your posts regarding the hybrid "dead battery" issue & as "auto ignoramus folks"; we so appreciate your knowledge & input on this forum.

When you say, "it's going to be a very big deal", do you feel that the hybrid shudder issue is an issue inherent in all these hybrids or something unique impacting only your truck & several others? Once again, excuse our ignorance if this is a dumb question & I guess we are getting "cold feet". Our hybrid has been "stuck" in production for the last 35 days and we are starting to second guess our decision to order a first year model vehicle.

Hi there. Can you send us a DM with your VIN and dealership info? I can look into this for you.

Mik, not only is the damper a set of springs, you are looking at what is commonly know as a mechanical clutch, there is a friction surface in there as well, theres a flywheel component as well. The bad thing is, to replace the clutch, the engine has to be removed from vehicle and the HF45 has to be seperated from the ICE. Big job.

Jac, welcome to hybrid 101. Yes theres some problems with the hybrid, theres 3 main ones right now, we have a pretty good handle now on the dead battery issues which is a defective battery cable lug disconnect, i dont think this is a show stopper, as we have had a few members repair their own, Ford is hanging out in the background so dealers are doing repairs that are questionable.

We are making headway on these shudder problem diagnostic, we believe we have this, now getting dealership repairing it may be another problem.

Alot of guys are complaining about brakes being grabbing. Especially right at vehicle stoppage movement, i guess i have been conditioned to driving with hybrid, its different then regular ICE vehicles, i let off brake pedal right as it stopping which helps alot(even thou we were taught to push harder right as vehicle stops.) Then theres 1 pedal operation where you dont use brakes as much to control vehicle speeds.
I have acknowledged exactly what is happening.
Summary...
I drove 1200m to pick mine up. I paid MSRP +$2500. I luv my Mav. It gets 50+ mpg, quietest truck i have owned, comfortable, stereo rocks. The wife and i cruise almost everyday 50+miles. We really like it and would do it all over again. When gas was $4.80g, we were loving it.

But as you seen, i repair my own and really dont look forward to dealership working on it. I have an airbag light which i was going to repair myself, but with the aircurtain recall, they can repair it.
Its a tough call, Ford should have these few things covered next time around, they want to keep us happy, because the Mav could be a cash cow, if Ford plays their cards right.
We were hoping the brake issue is just a brake parameter software tweek. Heck, i bet they could tweek other software to hide the clutch/damper problem.
If someone was to wait, alot of these problems will vanish. Its just we are the test bunch. Fuel economy is very easy to obtain.
Hope this helps.

Mach 1, do you ever drive your truck aggressively, like do any full throttle runs? I read about people having engine warning lights this spring during full throttle runs, and one guy said he did a few full throttle runs and it seemed to help with his concern. I usually drive really short drives, trying to maximize fuel economy, and when I first tried a full throttle run, my truck almost felt like a clutch was slipping badly, and could only get 50-60% on my power gauge -- after I did it a few times, my truck felt better and more responsive, almost like I de-glazed a clutch disc. From the pictures you posted, I almost wonder if people that drive to maximize full economy are the ones who will be seeing the problem, and why it would be a concern that develops over time? Just spitballing here...but a few full throttle runs never hurt anyone, just to see if it helps you guys...

Mach 1,
Thank you so much for your assessment of the current issues. That really helps us with our decision and we will probably follow through with the purchase knowing that there may be a bumpy road ahead until Ford sorts everything out. 👍

I hear what you are saying, your explanation works great on the ECOboosts, 'shake the dust off', i always tell the wife. I am going to blow the turbos out.

I have always thought of the hybrids/ICE as generator sets, constant low speed fixed throttle position.

With no direct throttle connection and the ECM having control of ICE speed, and SOC being key, its really difficult to do a 'full throttle run'.

With my beliefs of what the problem may be, it might be detrimental to the vehicles health. I believe it might be better to limp it along until Ford figures out a repair?

Thx for thought.

Jac, best thing you can do is be an active member here, use sponge mentality and soak up as much knowledge as possible, and arm yourself in prep for dealership. Anything you can do, feel comfortable with, do it.

I am trying to get everyone to at least inspect their battery cable lug. Its not a bad job, and learning about the fuse box is a must do anyway.
Its quite different from what i have been exposed to, its mounted upside down and you have to remove it to replace fuses. This could possibly save people a breakdown and/or a trip to dealer/tow. Plus the knowledge that the lug is on there good will give one good piece of mind.

Its the same mentality that goes with changing a spare tire, dont wait till u have a flat to know how to, check air pressure regularly, know where the jack is, jack points, etc. Samething goes with fuse box, know how to access it, carry extra fuses, etc.
