A quick search on the Ford site and general internet reveals that for the Ranger at least you can buy a remote start FOB that will work if you just install the remote start module. Any bets or ideas if we can follow this same pattern on the Maverick?

Time will tell.

I had a 2006 Dodge Dakota truck I purchased used. Someone had installed an add on Mopar remote start. Only problem is they didn't sell it with the remote to start it with. Other problem was Mopar quit making the remote for it, so I could never get to use it.

Having said all of that, there were miles of wires under the dash to connect this thing. They may have one but it's gonna take a day and a few sack lunches to get it installed. There were wires going everywhere.

There are three options, one if it has a modem which I believe is XLT and up you can use the Fordpass App on Android or Apple.

The second is you can get a module that'll either plug into the OBD2 connector or under the dash on a dash connector. Then you can do the lock button three times to start it. If you need the hood pin locator turned on you'll need Forscan.

The third is factory installed on the key and on the ford pass app.

All trims can remote start via app.

As Darnon mentioned, all trim levels will have remote start via the FordPass app, free. It works great, use it for start and door unlock on my ranger. You will still need the key to actually start driving of course (same as you would with remote start on XLT Lux - only Lariat gets push-button start).

It really doesn't work all that great. Ive got a 2019 Ranger and it is about 80%

If it's running off a cell modem, it'll just depend on your coverage. Won't work we're I live I'm afraid.
Im not sure which tower it works on. I want to say AT&T but I'm not sure. If it doesn't the module is really easy to install and it works on the key by hitting the lock button. Ive installed three or four on different Ford cars. Didn't do it on the Ranger with the App since I didn't want to spend the money on it. You can always get the truck, try the app, and if it doesn't work get the module. It is plug and play and anyway can install it.

It sends a message back telling you it started and has a timer on it. Normal is 15 minutes, and you can extend it one more time for a total of 30 minutes.

It's ATT, but we don't get service from any cell towers so it doesn't matter.

Truthfully, I'm not too bent out of shape about it. One of those things that really only bothers you if you've had it before, which I haven't. Would have been a neat party trick for my parents though.

I wanted to get the remote start off the FOB factory ordered m,y dealer told me I would have to get the LUX package (which I think is false) but told me I can have it added on at the dealer. So if you live in a major city with good cell service then the App is a good way to go?

If Ford comes out with a plug and play remote start that'd be a good way to go. I'm not really fond of aftermarket ones for any longevity. But I may be particularly biased since I have a 9 year old F-150 with intermittent PATS communication issues on my repair docket today and the usual mystery meat remote starter vampire tapped into about a dozen ignition wires...
