I just finished reading this whole thread, (I think for the second time haha), as I finally have my Maverick as of last Monday. I've got less than 100 miles on it. So I'm ordering the can today and maybe the cold air intake. I'm no speed racer, (well maybe a little ;)), but from what I can tell the little gal has some real pep and I do like driving, as I call it, cautiously aggressive.
So the can will be catching!

You won't be disappointed! Thank you.

Looking forward to it arriving. I'm not much of a mechanic, (I like making vehicles look nice haha), But I'll attempt the install. One questions please. And I'm asking as again not much of a mechanic... I saw you now have oil cap vents and a 90 degree one. Could you possibly explain them a little better, especially concerning using them with the can. Thank you much. I'll wait to check out. I may grab those also.

The oil cap isn't for this catch can, we are going to release a vented can in the future that will use that cap.

OK, this is what it says about the cap... "This gives you the extra 5/8" quick disconnect port for your catch can and to eliminate the crankcase pressure." That is what I meant. Then the 90 degree one also. Thanks.

Yes, that's what it's for but doesn't work with our current catch can that you will be ordering.

I have read through this entire thread more than once and need to get prepared for when my Maverick arrives. I currently have a build week of 8/22 scheduled.

I like very much what I see with the Buscher can. Because I plan to use the Maverick to tow a small RV I definitely need the protection for the intercooler and turbo, so that order will be placed soon. What I have also been able to figure out is the J&L oil separator can works off a different connection and would be able to catch additional oil that might directly go into the intake and create the carbon problem with the intake valves due to the direct injection. It appears the J&L can does not directly address the primary issue presented with the intercooler and turbo due to its placement in the intake tract, but it would provide additional protection for the intake valves if the two systems were both installed. Do I have this understanding correct?

It might also be worth pointing out that the J&L can does not allow for use of the engine cover for those interested in installing the 2.0L engine cover.

Yes, the JL can pulls oil from the PCV, that port however doesn't effect the intercooler/intake etc.

Thank you for the follow up. Looking at pictures again, if the PCV system the J&L catch can is attached to is not anywhere in the intake draw, it is not really impacting the concern related to intake valve deposits on a direct injection engine, in addition to the obvious lack of preventing the turbo system from being coated. Interesting.

Pulling from the PCV will bring oil contaminates into the cylinder head/cylinders. It will NOT keep the turbo, intercooler plumbing, intercooler, BOV etc. clean though.

I've had my can installed for months and "empty" it every 3,000 miles. That being said, I haven't gotten more than one ounce of liquid out of it in total. Am I missing something?

Again, thank you for the quick reply. Extremely helpful. I'll be placing an order soon.

Our can? One ounce per 3,000 miles is enough when you think about all that crap going through your intercooler and killing it's efficiency. I've found long highways miles make the most "mess" in the can. I've had mine fill on a cross country trip.

Yeah,
Getting ready to turn 20,000 miles (18,000 with the can installed) and less than 1oz of fluid from it. I even removed the drain hose, to check for possible obstruction and found nothing.

I am at a loss.
