Hell yeah- Also need speed holes in the engine block as well -Maverick gonna be much faster now with all these speed holes
Interesting. Let us know how that works out.I don't authorize Ford nor any Ford dealers to remove my shutters, however they can add the holes. This is formal warning. Witnesses please like/dislike this post.

You’ve just described my wife’s Hyundai Tucson perfectly. 1 qt/1000 miles is within specs to Hyundai. They were just hit with a major class action for oil consumption. It’s a cascade failure. When the deposits on the valve make their way to the rings and clog them up, oil can no longer move past the rings and it burns in the combustion chamber. Oil consumption begins to accelerate and often goes unnoticed until the rod bearings, and sometimes the main bearings, are no longer getting proper lubrication. Friction increases leading to catastrophic engine damage. I’ve been in the automotive industry for over 35 years and still counting, and yes, I really know engines.
Still does not fix the cause of the problem which is crankshaft machining which can lead to engine failure.Earlier a member posted where the holes needed to be cut. i'm sharing screenshots regarding the shutters to be removed and the one showing where holes will be cut.

Which was an Escape recall.Still does not fix the cause of the problem which is crankshaft machining which can lead to engine failure.
sounds like a matter of drilling a few holes and removing a few blinds from the active air shutters. Not too difficult for a dealer service tech.Gone are any regrets I had in choosing the ecoboost over the hybrid.
Yes, because a Maverick isn't one of the 155 Escapes that had the bad batch of crankshafts.Check Ford Authority on this issue. Drilling holes and removing vents will not fix the initial cause of this problem
What they'll do is simply refuse to do the work and note in their documentation that the customer did not allow them to do the prep needed to complete the repair.Interesting. Let us know how that works out.
I've never heard of someone ordering the dealer to do "half a recall" before.
That's pretty much what I would expect. Which is why I asked @MaverickHybrid to get back to us and tell us how it worked out. What they'll do [if the owner tells them to only do part of the recall] is simply refuse to do the work and note in their documentation that the customer did not allow them to do the prep needed to complete the repair.
I do have to say, if removing those shutters is been done solely for ventilation, it does seem like a brute corrective measure. I mean, the shutters do serve a purpose as designed after all. Maybe I'm missing something.I don't authorize Ford nor any Ford dealers to remove my shutters, however they can add the holes.
In REALITY...when you were GOING THROUGH your OPTIONS...it showed a hitch with wiring for 100 bucks...did you not order the maverick...?Because some of us didn't know a TRUCK would not come standard with a hitch.
When I found out 3 weeks after I ordered I had already been scheduled and even though there was 11 weeks until being built Ford did not allow any changes to the scheduled order.
That is why.
I am correcting the error by ordering a MY23 Maverick XLT Hybrid with the hitch and selling my current MY22 Maverick.
