I wondered when the first whiff of the inexplicable smell of the ‘Separate But Equal’ dichotomy between ICE and Hybrid would ooze into a thread.

Now I know: 7-8-2022. Lovely.

Is this for those red hot catalytic converters?
unfortunate no a software update fixes that issue to stop dumping extra fuel during cold starts.

🙄

Are there people on the "fuel tank recall" thread that say ridiculouness like this?

It's almost as if Ecoboost owners have a chip on their shoulders and have to justify buying an EB. 🤷‍♂️ To each their own. Bummer about the hybrid recall. Best wishes with your Ecoboost. Done.
Imagine how many of us who are waiting on hybrids would already have our Mavericks if all the EB buyers had just bought a Santa Cruz instead - just sayin'. :ROFLMAO:

Checked on the recall link. My Mav is on it. Dang

You need your vin to ck
Dang it Scuba Steve my truck is in this recall

I just don't understand why the louvers need to be deactivated (Modified) I guarantee that the louver will be deactivated and removed to make sure enough air is there to dissipate any fumes. "Modified my foot".

The added holes should be sufficient. and also why not fix the issue of these vapors being released in the first place why not fix that instead of negating the issue to a drilling holes and removing and engineered aerodynamic feature to fix a design screw up.

I will not be performing this recall just yet as these 20 something engenders still are a bit wet behind the ears and are reacting instead of acting.

And just because they jump too, does not mean its the real solution.

Fix the vapor issue Ford Jr.

PS I bet this recall is the least expensive one to do on the mav as the real recall to fix a falling power harness will be 10X more expensive.

They are just proactively reacting instead of fixing.

I hope the guys at Ford drilling the holes in the pan aren’t the same ones that drilled holes in the gas tanks.

Picked up my brand new Maverick Wednesday, and I'm waiting in line to enter the service dept for this Engine Fire hazard recall. They wanted to turn me away for not having an appointment. Wife reminded me I'm within the lemon law return period.
NJ lemon law needs 3 repairs…

You're calling for rod bearing failures on the EB engines? And what percentage of engines do you expect this to happen to?

I ask because Kia/Hyundai have recalled about 6 million vehicles for similar issues and the failure count was about 5,000.. so fractions of a percent.
And I had one of those Kia’s. A 2015 Kia Optima that blow a rod thru the engine at 64k miles. It took about 90 days, but they did replace the engine at no cost and even payed my towing bill. As the second owner the drive train warranty had ended at 60k.

I hope Ford is as accommodating should the Ecoboost fail prematurely. 🤞

I read this bulletin and it is basically saying the engine has to grenade the lower end (which would let all the fluids out) and catch fire.

Did I read this correctly?

I would think any car that did that would have a fire.
Not necessarily, a 2015 Kia Optima we owned blew a baseball sized hole thru the lower block and did not catch fire.

Updated with recall notice:

Just saw a new Maverick recall notice came out. https://www.newsmax.com/finance/str...threat-escape-maverick/2022/07/08/id/1077921/

The new recall covers certain 2020 through 2022 model year Ford Escape, Maverick and Lincoln Corsair vehicles with 2.5-liter Hybrid/Plug-In Hybrid engines. Ford said in the event of an engine failure, significant quantities of engine oil and fuel vapor may be released that could accumulate near ignition sources resulting in a potential under-hood fire.
"Dealers will modify the Under Engine Shield and Active Grille Shutter to address safety concerns. There are no accidents or injuries associated with this issue and customers do not need to park the vehicle outside."
