So I got the recall message in my Ford account. It says the recall is incomplete. What's that mean? Can I schedule an appointment with a dealer now?

Maybe. Figure I’ll wait to take mine in until the battery harness recall comes out so they can do both at the same time, along with the glowing Cat and……….

Just saw a new Maverick recall notice came out. https://www.newsmax.com/finance/str...threat-escape-maverick/2022/07/08/id/1077921/

The new recall covers certain 2020 through 2022 model year Ford Escape, Maverick and Lincoln Corsair vehicles with 2.5-liter Hybrid/Plug-In Hybrid engines. Ford said in the event of an engine failure, significant quantities of engine oil and fuel vapor may be released that could accumulate near ignition sources resulting in a potential under-hood fire.
Called my local dealer and booked their first available appointment on 7/21.

Picked up my brand new Maverick Wednesday, and I'm waiting in line to enter the service dept for this Engine Fire hazard recall. They wanted to turn me away for not having an appointment. Wife reminded me I'm within the lemon law return period.

So, what exactly does this mean... Anyone?
Per AP, they're essentially going to try to drain/vent the fuel vapor and oil so hopefully it doesn't catch fire should your crankshaft be one of the "0.17 of 1,000" vehicles that leads to engine failure. Engine replacement would only come as a result of crankshaft-induced engine failure, not as part of the recall itself.

Dealers will add drain holes to an under-hood shield and change the active grille shutters to allow more air flow and reduce under-hood temperatures to below the ignition points of fuel vapor or engine oil.

That article had a typo stating that owners will be notified Aug. 8th. I think it meant July 8th.

It says that in the event of an Engine Failure oil and fuel may come into contact with an ignition source and cause fire. I think just about any engine failure that is bad enough to cause oil and fuel to come out of the engine will cause a fire, not just the 2.5 Hybrid. Think of all the engine failures in say NASCAR, most of those leave a trail of oil or fuel that is on fire. I still think the Hybrid is the way to go, Ford and others have had too many problems with small turbo charged engines, especially GDI engines. That's one of the big reasons I went Hybrid.
