I would check the owner's manual. I've done that. It says 10,000 miles for the first service. The computer might also tell you to do it sooner if you use it hard enough. But generally, 10,000 miles is the recommended oil change by Ford.

I used the Motorcraft 5W-20 Blend (as specified) in my old Escape with great success, but I don't ever recall seeing a blend in 0W-20 anyhow. Not that I want to use a blend, but does a 0W-20 blend even exist?
All 0W-20 is synthetic blend or full synthetic to get that viscosity.

The User Manual clearly states to change the Oil when the Oil Change Minder says to do it or in 1 year whichever occurs first.

Why all the wild guesses about absolute mileage when the computer in the truck knows how you drive it and adjusts the Oil Change Minder accordingly to that.

Any new updates on your xl?

'Cause the computer in the truck is also the thing that shuts hybrids down for various reasons, known (to itself) and unknown (to the owners and dealers).

Some people view an oil change as a necessary evil that they either don't really care about, don't have time for, or don't want to pay for.

Others view it as an opportunity, and gain satisfaction in knowing it's done correctly, ahead of schedule, and that all is well.

did mine at 6 months - 3,500 miles. dealer actually told me it wasn't due til 12 months or 10K miles but I personally don't go longer than 6 months or 5K on any vehicle even if it's just for peace of mind.

Maverick hybrids NEVER shut down or refuse to start.
Good to know.
No the nonsense is that because of a few mavericks having issues that are fixable because a few cables were manufactured incorrectly that you poo poo the computer that tracks your driving habits to give you an Oil Life remaining number.

Oil Life Maintenance Minders have been available for 10+ years and function great and prevents unnecessary oil changes. My 2015 Honda Fit Ex had that feature which worked great. I expect no less for the Maverick.

So the computer lives in the battery terminal? Learn something new every day.
When the computer senses a battery problem, it reacts as it is programmed.
See, you DID learn something today.
Class over. Thread ignore to be turned on.

I have a very high degree of confidence that the oil life reminder will not prevent me from changing my Maverick's oil and filter at 5k miles.....

He should have said that it prevents unnecessary oil changes by people who know they aren't smarter than the engineers. Those who believe they know best - regardless of the evidence - cannot be prevented from changing it far more frequently than needed, thus wasting their money and time.

If you don't trust the oil life monitor, wait till it says 50% life left and change your oil. Send a sample for analysis. IF it comes back that it was still 50% good, then those are the facts and you should act accordingly. That is how science works.
