Ford's Shifting Production Policy...

Here's one for the books. I ordered a 2022 Maverick Lariat Hybrid with luxury package and 360 co-pilot on Oct 27, 2021. Got the confirmation email from Ford and verified it was submitted via appropriate processes. It was assigned a priority 02 by Ford in June which I understand means everything is available to build the truck. Ford then designated the 02 priority with a "p" which supposedly means the truck has been pulled for production. Today I learned the "p" designator was deleted and then truck will NOT be scheduled for production. According to the dealer, the reason was Ford does not want to build vehicles with the 500A package and is opting to build the XL models instead. Is it any wonder that Ford's reputation is in the toilet with crap like this?????

I think they want to maximize how many trucks they get out the door before my22 ends. Even some for dealer stock. And it sucks.

Are priority codes assigned by Ford? I thought priorities were assigned by the dealership at the time of ordering in order to basically say "try to build this one quicker." Mine was initially a 19 but became 02 and within 2 weeks I had a VIN, but I was under the impression the dealership changed it, not Ford.

That is not correct. A VIN means that parts are available. Priority 2 means the region looked at you for scheduling, and if you didn't get scheduled they skipped over it at that time for some reason. They'll come back to it. But it does not mean you'll definitely get scheduled for MY22

Priority 2 means that Ford is looking at your vehicle and deciding whether or not they can schedule it for production.

I think only Ford can issue a priority 02. The lowest a dealer can set it for is 10.

I think your dealer is the one lying or misunderstanding what Ford is telling them. You will find a lot more info here than in a show room.

I ordered almost identical to you except a week earlier and it is a First Edition. I didn't want to drop anything since it would then not be a First Edition. I was notified Tuesday that I have a VIN and will be produced as a 22.

Priority 02 means your order is being looked at; if there are no constraints then it will be scheduled to be built. Lux and 360 have been constraints for quite some time. I have never seen the 02p designation mentioned on this forum.

Almost positive that Priority 02 is clean and unscheduled. This means that there is nothing holding up the scheduling except for all the needed parts. It does not mean they have all of the items needed, just that everything is ready for an opening in the assembly line, when and if they get all the parts. I have been a Priority 02 for months. XLT AWD with Lux and COP360. My order is dated September 18, 2021.

Interesting since I ordered mine on October 26, Hybrid, Lariat, Lux, Co Pilot 360, Spray in bed liner and just got my VIN # this week by calling in, and a production date of 8/29 week. I never have received an email from Ford about anything. Just confirms when I've called marketing.

Sorry my dealer speaks Klingon or some other Galatic Language and without a universal translater, I can't figure out if he's telling me to hold on and wait, or wait to hold on. My texted questions are answered with a simple "Yes" response. Then Radio silence.
