The chip situation isn’t going to get better once China moves into Taiwan

I woke up this am thinking that exact same thing. America needs to rely upon itself for for everything or have a backup plan ready.

Maybe not OUR economy but it's great for China, Viet Nam, and all the other far away places.

We do have some domestic chip production and while it's not useful now, Intel had announced they'd be building another plant in AZ to help address the issue. I think everyone's aware the precariousness of having Taiwan be the biggest hub for chips, and by extension China.

Look at it this way for a minute, we can consider this situation as a National Security Issue, we have non friendly state actor’s (countries that have already been named), these countries financial encourage and support industries that compete directly with our manufacturing.

We (Americans) have to legitimately raise capital, build manufacturing plants, pay workers a living wage, cover our product liability etc. and still have to manage a profit for ourselves and our stock holders. Gentlemen the game has changed and it’s not a level playing field.

Foreign governments all across the world are backing private business, some of those businesses are American businesses.

We need to change the way we (our government deals with American business) We cannot allow other countries to stack the deck against our American businesses.

There is no moral high ground here. They are using every underhanded trick to undermine the American way of life.

Other foreign countries have been getting away with it for years. We need to take back our country by insuring that all critical manufacturing is done in America and stays in America.

Global chip production is actually higher right now than it has been in a while. If you want to blame someone blame distributed currency miners and such. The auto industry slowed down requests for chips, and the market shifted production. Then the auto industry said oh wait, maybe we do want more, and the manufacturers said get to the back of the queue

not that the water shortage in Taiwan helped.

I'm a retired Contract Negotiator and car salesmen don't intimidate me. There are a lot of others that get taken every hour of every day.
