I sold my Maverick (had too, made 8k) and immediately snatched a 2022 XLT Ranger at MSRP as it rolled in off the truck. (No markup or dealer fees). So I had both for awhile.
First time in the Ranger I turned right and almost wrecked it. The steering doesn't re-center like the Maverick and takes about a quarter more turn-in . So when I let go, believing the steering would rebound Maverick style, the Ranger just kept on turning. Had to snatch the wheel back. After a bit, I learned the characteristics of the Ranger.
I believe the Maverick actually has a touch more front leg room and also a tad more in the back. (Have the SuperCab).
I also appreciate that you can sit lower in the saddle in the Mav. The Ranger even at it lowest setting feels (to me) perched a tad high. I know some like the higher feeling, but not me. The Maverick wins the entry/disembark battle as the lower seat position allows for slightly more headroom climbing in.
The Ranger 2.3 is extremely strong and super duty built. Even has under piston oil cooling. This 2.3 ecoboost in the Maverick would be ridiculously awesome. Not that the 2.0 is a slug by any means.
When it comes to truck utility, obviously the Ranger edges out the Maverick. To me the Ranger just feels more substantial, while the Maverick feels car like refined.
With about a $7000 difference trim to trim, the Maverick wins the value comparison. With about a $20,000 difference trim to trim with the F150, I say the Ranger wins that one.
All my unbiased opinion for what it's worth.
Looking forward to my other Hybrid Maverick order (Oct 07) still floating out there in purgatory. This one will be a keeper.

Oil rigs are a tough job.

Until the Maverick Ecoboost came out I had been looking at the Ranger & Colorado. One think that had me go with the Maverick was I've wanted an AWD vs 4WD. Plus crew cab, great milage & with towing package the Maverick is perfect for me. After test driving one, I ordered! Can't wait to get it! p.s. All the 2 or 3 year older Mid-size trucks I looked at, with 25,000 & more miles were also $9,000 to $13,000 more!

Pretty sure the steering difference is due to the weight difference. I've driven my mom's RX350, my dad's Highlander, and a GLB 250 as a loaner, in all 3 of them the steering wheel "corrected itself" quicker than in my ML350 I drive. The ML350 is the heaviest car out of the 4, that's why the steering "holds" the steering angle longer. Im sure that can explain why your ranger's steering wheel felt different than the maverick's.

Ranger is also RWD unless 4wd is engaged; that will have a noticeable effect on steering as well.

My coworker has a really nice 2021 Ranger, and has been asking about my Maverick. When I told him I'm getting 25-28mpg around town and 30-32mpg highway, he laughed and said, "I can't compete with that!"

Got use to the Ranger steering real quick. The very first time surprised me.

No matter what, the steering on a front wheel drive and a rear wheel drive will always feel different. Common sense will tell you that!

Actually the difference comes from the lock to lock steering ratio. The Maverick takes 2.8 turns while the Ranger takes 3.5. The quicker 2.8 (Mav) is just going to rebound faster. Nothing to do with handling.
