I paid 2k over but it was so worth it. Eb, AWD, 4K tow, Luxury, FX4, Co Pilot, hood deflector, rubber mats.

The 2023 will most likely be going up anyway.

Also have to remember that your trade in is higher than ever also.
I traded in my 2018 Honda Civic and it more than made up for it.

We have a used XLT with AWD luxe package in my area they want $40,000 for it with 12,000 miles. Insane! 2022 used Maverick and FX4 and I am not 100% on Luxe

No.... I wish.... Earlier in the thread I mentioned I paid about $4k over MSRP. That is the absolute upper limit I would recommend paying. The Maverick is a nice truck, but it's not worth $10K over MSRP like some dealers are trying to get away with.
good to know! thank you very much for the replies it has been a big help. I have a decision to make and like you said I think 4k would be the absolute max as well.

I would ask the question ”If the MSRP was $4K higher would you buy the vehicle?”

You're welcome. You're in a good position with already having a quality vehicle; no shame in deciding to hold on to it and getting a Maverick later. Let us know what you decide, and if you do decide to get the Mav, you gotta show us some pics of your new ride!

offer 1K over msrp, if they say no walk - the car market is going to adjust late this year
While there does seem to be some things pointing to that, I don’t think that will have any affect on these for the time being. Being a popular new model vehicle, no stock, that you can’t even order right now means you’re fully stuck with how the market currently is with no bearing on where it may be heading if you want that instant gratification. Not quite the same as if it was an average vehicle that most dealers had at least some stock of and ordering wasn’t closed on. In that case, you’d expect to eventually see more and more flexibility if not lowering of markup until the markups disappear, but stuff like these mavericks will not follow suit until the newness/initial popularity wears off and it’s availability greatly improves.

As for OP, it depends on what that extra money is worth to him. Also keep in mind that extra money up front won’t help your trade value when things ever get back to normal as well. After decades of near constant big rebates from the big 3, I’d personally have a hard time paying even MSRP for a common model of those brands never mind any markup, but at the same time don’t have a maverick despite really wanting one because of that. I will prob bite that bullet and put an order in when they open up again though..

Will do! Having a truck bed with a hybrid engine is ideal for me. I love my santa cruz but the bed is a little shorter and i average 22 mpg (AWD turbo engine). I drive a lot so having the hybrid would be great.

But i will let you know what I end up doing. I'm impatient so knowing me I will bite the bullet and get the maverick lol

Hi everyone! Im new to the group and would like some advice. I just got a call yesterday saying a customer order didn’t go through for a maverick hybrid XTL with luxury package. The hybrids are extremely hard to get right now. They are doing a 4k markup! Do you think it’s worth the mark up or should I just wait it out? I just don’t know if I want this opportunity to slip since I don’t know when I will be able to get a hold on another hybrid. So my question is would you pay the 4k mark up or is that just crazy talk?! Lol thanks!
If you don't want to wait then a $4k markup is not bad at all in this market as my used Maverick XLT Hybrid is worth $10,269 over MSRP.

Current 5/29/22 Carvana offer is $34,889 with 1439 odometer miles

MSRP price was $24,620 but I paid 1.8% under at $24,174. Total Out-the-Door price was $26,068 that included $1,551 in sales tax, $150 doc fee and $193 in other state fees.

So Carvana's offer is $8,821 over my Out-the-Door price or $10,269 over MSRP.

I havnt been able to find out since literally, no place has them available. This one im looking at is in Maine. So i will drive 2 hours to get it. 4k is alot. But from what i hear its a lot more else where but that doesn't mean its any better lol. ughh idk lol
One of my orders is in PA and I live in FL so the distance is nothing. Granted, I am getting mine for about $3,000 BELOW MSRP. I plan on flying up and then driving it to Virginia to take a train back to save on miles. It will cost me about $1,000 but I would still be saving an additional $2,000.

I would think your Santa Cruz would almost be an even swap (moneywise) for the Mav with the markup. Heck it may be worth more than the Mav. Have you priced what the Santa Cruz is worth???

There were a few dealers here that had special offers if you ordered through them, Chapman and Granger specifically. My order at my local dealer will also be below MSRP as I am using X-Plan, plus my College Rebate. These only apply to ordered Mavericks though. Its just about impossible to get MSRP on Mavericks on the lot, much less below MSRP.

Focus on the out the door price and what other crap they are adding on. 4K is not as bad as most dealerships. It could actually be a good deal.
