That's what I was thinking too, grab it before someone else does. I'm def. not an off-road guy, I just like the utility of having a truck bed. I def. I don't need it, but more of a want. I have a Santa Cruz I just bought turbo with AWD but really miss my old hybrid especially with gas prices going up... ugh idk... lol
In my case I had a 94 Ranger with 354,000 miles that was leaking oil fairly bad and some other issues. In addition to negotiating the price down, the dealer had a standing promotion of $2500 for your trade. My Ranger was probably not worth much more that scrap value, so that also helped.

Sounds like you're in more a "want" situation than a "need" situation. If you're serious about getting the Maverick, would you be trading in your Santa Cruz or not?

Whether or not 4k is crazy is totally dependent on the person and their financial situation, need for a new vehicle, etc.

4k on an XLT isn’t as bad as some of the other horror stories we’ve heard about dealers but it’s not nothing. Eye of the beholder.
good point... ughh idk what to do haha

def. a want and not a need lol. But I would be saving money on gas by switching to the hybrid. Yes, i would be trading it in. So i save on sales tax.

I took one refused by original person. Paid MSRP. Your dealer (In my opinion) should be tarred and feathered and run out of town on a rail. Money just sitting there to pay, then take the Mav. Don't screw up your finances. Either way, it's a great truck.
I agree. I def. I don't have money just sitting there but the mark up won't break the bank. It's more about the principle of it, its hard for me to overpay for a car. Do you think the car is worth it? in your opinion.

I have two Mavericks on order and I would still be willing to pay $3000 to get one now if it is like I want. I'm in Fl and have called all around and have only found one dealer who doesn't mark them up but I've never seen them available through them. $4k is a lot, but as others have mentioned, may dealers are adding a lot more to it. Don't know what dealers are charging in Massachusetts.

offer 1K over msrp, if they say no walk - the car market is going to adjust late this year
Not a chance that is happening. We are looking into early 2024 before we see any change in industry conditions. And that is optimistic.

no, i haven't, i would test drive it first before pulling the trigger. Anything I should know? What do you think of it?
Well, mine was / is an EcoBoost, not a Hybrid. I've honestly never driven a Hybrid so I can't help you with hybrid-specific things to look for.

Compared to my 94 Ranger, the Maverick rides so nice. At the same dealership, they had a Iconic Silver 2022 Ranger (Lariat trim) that I also test drove. It was a really nice truck but it was just too big for my daily needs. Plus my 5' 1" wife told me afterwards that she had trouble getting in and out of it LOL.....

All that said, I really do like my truck.

I had to drive 175 miles from Evansville to just outside of Indianapolis to get mine. I had to beat the bushes for six weeks before I was to find and pull the trigger on the one I bought.

Agreed. The overprice bubble will burst eventually, but I agree with your timeframe. Crazy times we are living in.

No.... I wish.... Earlier in the thread I mentioned I paid about $4k over MSRP. That is the absolute upper limit I would recommend paying. The Maverick is a nice truck, but it's not worth $10K over MSRP like some dealers are trying to get away with.
