So after the typical multiple build date delays on April 28 I received the email that my Maverick had shipped and was expected to arrive May 15 -21. This week I had been anticipating the next Ford email telling me it has been delivered.

Yesterday (May 18th) I received an email from Ford. Unfortunately, instead of a delivery notification it was notification of a another delay of 10 more days. I just found it interesting that they said the delay was to ensure my complete satisfaction. I don't know how a delay in shipping is going to increase my satisifation because frankly I don't feel more satisfied. Since it had already shipped I wonder if they found a problem with the Mavericks while it was in route and they somehow stopped the shipment until the issue could be resolved?

Anyhow, I guess the only email or call that matters is when your dealer says, "It's here".

I received the same message from Ford regarding delivery of my Maverick. Original window was May 5-11. Updated window is May 19-25.

In all likelihood the delay is due to the slow rail shipping. Nothing to do with actual quality control on your truck. I’ve been waiting 10 months, and t his shipping period is far and away the most frustrating part of the process. Hang in there.

Pretty much sums it up. In early March, I was getting similar emails after a long wait. I got one from Ford indicating another two month delay. Called my dealer and they said 'it showed up last night".

Typical corporate lip service. Anything that happens as a result of their incompetence or inefficiencies are spun off as some sort of benefit to you. 🥳

My Lariat Lux hybrid was ORDERED 9 August 21, BUILT 14/15 March 22, SHIPPED to Portland, OR arriving there on April 3rd... and there it has sat for SEVEN weeks. Ford has officially told me DELIVERY would be 12 April, then 23 April, then 14 May, then 24 May, and now 30 May. I've made several calls to Ford and their "Maverick team" but they all seem to be in the dark on this. I have not lost confidence in the Maverick, but I'm certainly losing my confidence in Ford.

I know Tim Bartz has said a few times there are issues at the train yards causing delays, especially Kansas City.

Yep, now saying a week for my railcar to go from KS side of river to MO side of river where the convoy pickup is. Then there is that delay too.

The last time I contacted the "Maverick Team" (last week) she used the words "possible transit damage" which may lend some credence to the rumor that thieves broke into the Portland, OR Ford storage lot and removed catalytic converters or other parts from new Ford vehicles waitng transport by truck to various Pacific Northwest dealers.

You are just about to the finish line. I ordered a plain o base hybrid XL with only a drop in bedliner in October. Checked twice last week with Ford Customer service number and my sales guy. Still no build date. Went into this knowing August was a possibility. Right now, I figure I am looking at after August 15 at best.

@fordvideoguy mentioned backlogs of off loaded trucks at the KC rail yard with car carriers being the weakest link in the transportation chain.

I've called a local GM twice about full car carriers (I'm also in Ford's KC district) with retail orders sitting at neutral locations for more than three days. Carriers are now sitting in the same location for multiple days while empty.

As patiently waiting customers, we think that those carriers should be moving all the time since they're not making money unless they're loaded and OTR. It's a shortage of qualified vehicle operators, DOT 13 hour restrictions and across the spectrum communication from Hermosillo, BNSF/Southern Pacific et al, Midwest Transport, dealer preparation team.

A Dearborn, Michigan executive has a Power Point slide show of the ideal SOP with zero time delays detailing what an ideal scenario looks like from assembly line to driveway.

@Ford Motor Company , urgent reply needed, which employees are willing to roll their sleeves up and bridge, cement, fill in or close the transportation and communication gaps (no corporate finger pointing allowed)?

Does it take a lot of extra training to drive a car hauler or can Burt, the semi-retired guy who used to deliver patio sets to Home Depot pick this up pretty fast?

Same here, ordered 7/26/21 Lariat Hybrid, First Edition, Luxury Pkg, CoPilot 360, Rapid Red. Original build date week of 5/9, then week of 5/16, 5/23/ & now week of May 30th. June suppose to be a huge build month for Mavrick, maybe I'll get in on that???

There's more to it than that. Most of guys driving smaller delivery trucks like that just need their Class B CDL with no endorsements. When you get into the larger semi-trucks you need a Class A with the addition of a combination endorsement and a air brakes endorsement.

It has been awhile since I got my Class A with combination and air brakes but there might even be additional endorsements needed for carrying vehicles. I'm not saying Burt can't do it but he would definitely need additional CDL requirements and additional training which take time.

If you're interested Illinois offers a free online test you can take to test how ready you are to obtain you CDL. Just click the blue button that says Continue.
