My 2022 XLT Alto-Blue Mavrick Hybrid has a terrible vibration at speed..
At first i thought, flat spots in the tires, or possibly something was out of wack with the wheels.. but it's turned out to be the tonneau cover moving around.
I have tried to tighten it, to the point where there's no threads, and frankly could probably lift the back of the maverick off the ground with it.. as it's so securely attached.. but still when you are going 65-75 mph it causes a massive vibration in the back of the truck..

Has anyone else had this issue?

Is the tonneau tight as a drum? Try spreading the rails farther apart and forcing the edge of the cover over into the velcro to make the cover taut.

You don’t need to spread the rails out. They need to be flush against the center piece. What they need to be is centered on the rails. The covers will slide side to side to make the connection on the Velcro even. These will never be drum tight as they are not connected to the support rods that span the bed. Have you had the cover rolled up at the same speeds and still had the vibration issues? I regularly hit 80 here in the PNW and have not felt anything like that.

I can do 75ish without the cover and it's smooth as silk.. soon as i put the cover back on, it acts like someone is beating a drum on the back of the truck and it violently shakes.

I don't have velcro on mine, it's a rubber seal that squishes to the bed-rails. There's two adjusters at the cab end that you can twist to hold against the bed-rails and on the other end, the tailgate side, it has two pull tabs that hook to the bed, by pinching it together. I had the older version of the same cover on my F150, and never had this issue. It's as tight as i can physically put it.

The support rods have a Velcro attachment if I remember correctly. I’m “working “ right now so I can’t go look at mine. Maybe that needs to be tightened on yours? I’d like to see pics of the install to compare with mine. Did you add weather strip to the front of the bed or no?

I have the factory installed soft folding - no issues, no leakage. Been really happy with this model after seeing alternatives with leakage or with "added" bed rails with clunky hardware...

Hi there, Rob. This doesn't sound like an experience we want you to have with your Maverick. Could you please send us a PM with your VIN and the name and location of your Ford dealer? I'd be happy to look into how I can assist you with this tonneau cover concern on my end.

I have the Ford-branded TruXedo TruXport which I believe is what you have. No issues, no ripples at rest, tight, and sufficiently watertight.

The tonneau should be centered on the back rail and that spacing should be maintained along the rail to the back to keep the rails parallel. If this is done and the rails are properly clamped down, the cover should fit tight without ripples at rest. Any light fluttering at speed should be inaudible.

so today i went to the dealership, they took it for a highway test drive, with and without the cover and also determined that it is the cover and nothing was wrong with the truck. To confirm this is the tri-fold soft cover. The dealership is going to replace it free of charge with the velcro style rollup and call ford to report the issue Monday. The dealership indicated that there was no noticeable defect or installation issues. I’ll keep everyone posted if anyone else has this issue.

Going on 3 weeks.. Still no fix for the Tonneau cover.. Dealership indicates that because this thing was ordered through Ford, that Ford will only replace it with the same junk. Would honestly just take my money back.. But since it's part of the purchase, the Ohio law indicates that they have to fix it, or I will just Lemon law this thing back..

Signed.. Getting more annoyed..

Am having no issues with mine. Let them replace it. I would bet there is an air leak and you are experiencing cavitation. Does it do it with tailgate down? If not vote for air leak. Are all the drain holes in the bed closed off???

Maybe put something between rubber and top of tailgate so air can escape if it's being pushed into bed. Do you have a rubber seal installed around the tailgate and the air cannot escape that way?

My soft roll up flaps around a bit but nothing crazy. I can only hear when it’s super windy and it’s not even that bad. Sounds like your cover has a seal or fitment issue. Have them replace it with the same model and see if it’s better. If it’s the same, Then get a credit for the amount for service visits, a new and different model OEM cover, or the value of the cover so you can buy one elsewhere.

The dealership can write you a check
