Automatic carwashes can be tough due to high-pressure water being shot at from every angle, if you continue to have issues shoot me a PM
Agree that automatic car washes can spray in all directions and it doesn't really bother me since I consider that water ingress minor and will see how it does in actual real world rainy conditions but those days are rare since my Mav is not a daily driver.

I purchased a Ford hard folding it is waiting on my truck. Is this a good cover. I know it was expensive.

Tonneau Cover Buying Guide

What tonneau cover would work best with a tailgate pad for bikes? Sounds like any of the locking varieties are out if they rely on a tight connection to the tailgate.

When it comes to the hard roll-ups, The TruXedo Sentry and Sentry CT both have a quick-release system that makes removal of the cover very quick and simple. Hard folding covers are a little more involved to take off other than say the Solid Fold 2.0 as it sits on top of the bed rails. The entire system for a hard roll cover typically weighs between 70-80 lbs. The entire system for a hard fold cover typically weighs 75-85 lbs.

If quick removal is what you are looking for with a hard cover Id suggest the TruXedo Sentry, TruXedo Sentry CT, or the Extang Solid Fold 2.0
Thank you so much! I’m fairly petite, so it looks like I should plan on having help to install it and prob at least the first time I try to remove it. Appreciate the advice!

Great post. I' think ultimately I'm going to buy the Truxedo Pro x15 and Elevate TS rails. This should give me the flexibility to later install a rack system if I decide I want to mount a cargo basket. Can you guys get the elevate TS rails? I can't seem to find them through realtruck.com.
I got my truck Friday and put the Truxedo Pro X15 on Saturday. It looks super great and is very functional. It looks so good on the Maverick with that low profile and easy to install.

Got a good deal frlm Alex from Real Truck.

Are the hard roll-up covers generally easy to remove if you need access to the whole bed? How heavy are they generally. Would a hard folding cover generally be easier/harder and lighter/heavier?
I've never had a cover on my trucks before, but I want to keep folding chairs and umbrellas in my bed for sporting events and don't want them in the elements all the time.
The Truxedo Pro X15 rolls up and cab be removed easily by pushing a couple of sliding locks back. However, it rolls up into a pretty compact size and has straps to keep it out of the way. You still have access to almost the entire bed without removal.

Want to post a photo? They have a couple private labels and I'm happy to take a look.

I think that'll be tough. All covers are designed to either press into the tailgate, or sit on top of the tailgate to seal. You could go with any cover that provides partial bed access. That way when using the tailgate pad, you can roll/fold the cover to the cab. When you need to cover the bed, you can close the cover up.

Thanks for your business!

This is more complicated because depending on how cold it gets I have seen where even vehicle door handles/doors freeze shut. However, our covers are designed with cold and hot climates in mind. We have a lot of customers in northern climates that buy are covers that tend not to have any issues with the cold, again depends on HOW cold you are talking about though. TruXedo is made and designed in South Dakota and Extang in Michigan.

All covers whether soft folding/rolling or the hard covers are able to support at the bare minimum a heavy snow load due to the crossbows
We hit 20s for a bit, so not talking upper Canada temps. Most of time 30s.
Good to know they all would be ok. I saw a video of someone with a hard roll up, that got a thin sheet or ice on it, he couldn’t roll it.

Are there good covers that don’t require you to unlatch them before closing the tailgate? I know they make some that claim this, but wanted to know if those claims are valid. I can see myself opening the tailgate, then just closing it; not remembering to pop open the cover first.

The only covers that will able to be opened with the tailgate closed are certain retractable that have a key locking mechanism such as certain Gators, Retrax, and Roll-N-Lock

I understand that for some of the retractable covers the Lariat cargo management system must be remove. Is this true and what covers are they,

Let me do some further digging on this, as far as I have heard the covers we sell dont interfere with the system as it sits low enough from the rails

You may have read my question backwards. Not looking the to open the cover with the tailgate closed. I’m looking to close the tailgate when the cover is closed/latched.

I will need to look into this further as I have not heard of this

I did read that wrong
So any roll-up cover will be no issue
folding for flush mount, any Gator, BAK and Undercover covers will allow this as well
