Hope this info helps other people in the SF Bay Area... I just placed an order today at The Ford Store in Morgan Hill. They're a high volume dealership and doing $200 over invoice.

First post/reply! Ordered an XL at MSRP with $0 deposit in Orange County, CA. Sorry in advance for the long post!

I just got done confirming my order with Autonation Ford Tustin. $0 deposit and MSRP pricing. Sean Sunay specializes in Internet Sales, and I asked him why no deposit, and he disclosed to me that they usually charge a deposit in a circumstance where the interested person would put in an order and wouldn't come in at the agreed upon time. Usually to filter through wishy washy/indecisive people.

So as the story goes, I put in a reservation on Thursday night and shot him an email right after. I got Sean's email from a previous inquiry about another car months ago that I ended up not purchasing through him. He responded the next day and asked if I could come in that day. I told him that wouldn't work, but I'll be available late afternoon the following day(which is today actually). I came in around 4pm, he greeted me, and we went through the order sheet. He went ahead and pushed the order through. I asked him about pricing with this question, "Is MSRP what we're looking at for this?" and he responded with, "yes, we aren't doing any markups on the Maverick." I didn't question the vehicle price any further.

After he confirmed the order and I signed the paperwork, that was pretty much final. In the spirit of gathering information, I asked, "wow! no deposit?" He gave me the spiel I mentioned in the start of my reply.

I asked Sean if it was ok for people to contact him directly for their orders and he was more than happy to oblige. His Phone # is 714-508-2850. FWIW, as of around 4:00pm PT today, Sean said I was his 19th order, in his total.

So to summarize, here were the steps:
1. Reserved a Maverick on the Ford website, and chose Autonation Ford Tustin
2. Emailed Sean notifying him that I put in a reservation
3. He emailed me back to arrange a time to complete the order
4. Showed up at the agreed time
5. He put my order in and my build in the exact way I wanted. (note: any changes to your build can be applied in this process)
6. Confirmed the order is complete on their dealer portal
7. Signed minimal paperwork and went on my way

Expected Delivery date, between mid October and mid November.

Again, sorry for the long post, but I just wanted to share my experience, in hopes that people would get similar results.

There was a detailed explanation of the process in 1 of those dealer started threads- don't want to mis-speak which guy listed it but you can review the "4%" off, "3%" off MSRP threads yourself. I never said it was going to Horsham, but it comes from factory on a train to US border , then gets unloaded and put on a truck to final destination whether Horsham or Florida. THAT is the part where the guy said he has to get a UShip quote from border holding/transfer facility to final destination. Contact him to confirm for yourself if you don't want to find the post.
Living in Tucson Arizona for decades and over the years going down to Nogales Arizona and getting stopped at RR crossings by trains with train car after train car filled with spanking new automobiles heading north, I say with confidence that vehicles made in Mexico are not offloaded from trains onto trucks at the border. I'm not saying it never occurs, but I've also never seen an auto transport truck heading north on I-19 from the Mexican border towards Tucson either. Over the years I'm sure I've seen thousands of train cars full of automobiles heading north.

Correct, they stay on the train until hey get to the regional railhead. They may be removed from the train for inspection by the DOR or similar to verify contents and show no illegal activity. But it is generally to the railhead then by truck to the dealership. My closest railhead is about 10-12 miles from my CD, the terminus railhead in ATL.

maybe I wasn't super clear as I don't know every fine detail, but I did say transfer facility. I don't know EXACTLY where that facility is on US side. They obviously don't deliver every single vehicle to each individual dealership across the USA by rail car now do they? At some point they come off the train and go onto a truck for last leg of delivery to dealers.

Hello. I was wondering what destination fee everyone was quoted ? I have an invoice for $1495... seems a bit steep. I live in Florida , not sure if everyone has the samesame fee's.
Thanks. Rain

I believe that is the amount FORD stated in the Build Guide. Ford set the amount, NOT the dealers.

My local dealer here in Northern CA wanted 2k over MSRP. Another I corresponded with in the Sacramento area said they were planning on a 5-10k markup (complete insanity). Through this website, I was able to find a few dealers in Northern and Southern California that are doing MSRP.
I went 90 miles to get MSRP in San Diego

Running into the same thing in Charlotte, NC. Dealer's either want over MSRP, have a $800 doc fee, or are only taking orders that include dealer installed options.
Move on to another dealer…fast

I kind of followed the lead of some here.
I have 3 orders with 3 different dealers. Hopefully 1 of the 3 won't try any crazy, I hope.
You don’t know what else they will charge you for? Get it in writing now, not when the car is on the lot.

That's Ford's charge no matter where you live in the US! Believe me it's not a fair charge that's for sure. Those of us living in AZ (I'm in Tucson) are roughly 250 miles from the factory! On top of that, in theory, we could go watch our Mavericks roll-by on rail car carrier going to the Ford distribution center!!:cautious:
