FYI…. I don’t recommend the Ford (Lund) rain guards…. the rear ones don’t match the contour of the window. I sent them back.
dealer told me I installed them wrong. LMAO! Look at THEIR PHOTO! SAME PROBLEM!

I'm okay with them since I have a large dog in the back and he needs the air.

But I agree, I think Ford just had Lund throw something together. I was not ready to machine the rear ones to fit, not skilled enough to make it fit and look right (I know my limitations, lol).

I placed them 3/4" below the top of the door frame so the adhesive would be on metal surface and NOT on the rubber window seal.

Good thing about them is they sit almost flush with the body unlike in-channel.

agree the rear looks stupid but if you notice the front extends further than necessary also. Maybe because of the flush design they required overhang to effectively keep out rain

Nice trim job. Looks better.

Have you had any issue with water entering in a downpour with window cracked ? I suspect the overhang was necessary to affect a better water seal due to the low profile design.

I haven't really thoroughly tested them yet, other than washing the truck. Supposed to rain this week, so I'll have to see how it goes. Seems to me the 3M tape seal would prevent any water leakage.

I trimmed the rear ones so they aligned better with the window:

View attachment 46763 .
This looks like the best job of making them seem like they actually fit the truck.

The top edge of the driver door rain guard lines up with the top edge of the mirror housing in front and the curved edge at the rear of the back seat guard seems to match the curve of the window.

Some of the other pictures show the top edge of the rain guard very close to the top of the door, which makes them look like they are sitting too high.

BUT... What are the guards actually sticking to? Is the adhesive bonding to the painted door surface, or to the rubber door surround? If it's to the rubber, will that be strong enough?

Nothing to be a fan of. If you want ventilation on rainy days for whatever reason you need them. Never been without them for dog and waiting out summer rain in the truck.

Mostly to the rubber surround in the middle areas. The front guards have a lip that goes under the mirror trim, and on the opposite end the adhesive is on the door edge "blackout" area. The rear guards on the left side also stick to the black area, and the rest of the way are applied to the door surround. No issues so far. I'll have to go to a secluded highway sometime and see if they still stay on at 80-100 mph lol.

I sent them back also. I bought them with rewards points and hopefully the dealership will honor the points for service later. Just wondering if anyone has cut themselves on these poorly designed deflectors.
