I think they will offer an SUV version that is less oriented to off roading like the Bronco Sport is. Better gas mileage and overall look better than the Sport.
I think that's what the CEO meant a few months ago when discussing a Maverick "line" of affordable vehicles. I'm thinking something like the original Escape with the same front end and relatively utilitarian interior styling of the Maverick. The Escape becomes the road trip family SUV and the Maverick SUV (whatever they end up calling it) serves the needs of the folks that do field work/head to job sites or want a basic hybrid SUV to get around in.

As for the Maverick itself, add a PHEV option and they can take my money all over again. I've been very happy with my truck over the last few weeks and see a lot of potential for the platform.

I assume @Ford Motor Company will take all the wrong lessons from the Maverick. I can see them saying, "People bought up this small truck, I bet they'll buy it even more if we make it bigger! And it needs more chip modules in it! And imagine all the money we're leaving on the table by making it affordable! Henry Ford didn't worry about that, did he? And let's make the allocation process even harder to figure out because people have been talking about that a lot and there's no such thing as bad publicity!"

that won't happen any time soon. Ford tends to ride a platform for many years before updates. The previous Ranger gen lasted 20 years without any major design changes. Escape went 12 years through 2 generations before it was significantly updated. They aren't going to significantly change the Maverick until they see sales slip... which could be quite a long time.

The Escape kind of already is a non off road version of the Maverick.... and the Bronco Sport, at least mechanically if not in look. The new Transit Connect is going to look a lot more like a minivan/cross over. That will mean Ford's line-up will have a lot of vehicles of similar size and purpose... and close in price.

I'm actually bummed they are ending the current Transit. I owned a Transit Titanium and absolutely loved it. It was the best road trip vehicle i've ever owned.

I think it will be refined. Specifically electronics and interior. But no size change for some time. Remember it shares the platform with other relatively new vehicles. No I did not read the article.
I think adding AWD to the Hybrid would have me trading in my Lariat EcoBoost [it it ever gets here...]

It's easy to sell out when you can't build half of what you promised. One time, anyway.

I could see a king ranch trim level perhaps. In addition to the more common things mentioned previously.

AWD Hybrid is a given and will happen, not too sure beyond that. I’m more interested in seeing what the competition brings.

I think dodge will be pushing one out to go with their electric 1500 dodge

I used to have a 2009 Ram 1500 Laramie and it was a fantastic truck in every way but fuel economy. Their interior and ride quality crush everyone else. No way they’d have it starting around $20k though.

An Maverick styled SUV with 3rd row seating would probably sell well.

The obvious:
  • AWD hybrid
  • PHEV version (probably FWD only since that's how the Escape comes)
  • A Timberline/Rattler/Tremor/some light "off-road" version
Potential:
  • Maverick Lightning EV
  • Maverick ST w/ sportier tuned 2.0 EcoBoost
  • PHEV AWD
King Ranch
Limited
Platinum

i don’t think so . The maverick already has suv look to it from the inside . Don’t see any other suv needed in the ford line up . I think if they fused focus and maverick together then maybe yes.
