Saw this article online a couple days ago:
https://jalopnik.com/kia-dealers-are-going-to-kill-the-ev6-1848577923
I realize that this article is about buyers experiences with the Kia EV6 but the dealer that they mention in the article is Citrus Ford and Kia in Ontario CA.
This is the dealer that I have bought 3 cars from in the last year and I have a 4th, a Hybrid Maverick reserved with as well. Citrus has been nothing but great. Its a no-pressure dealer that is selling Mavericks at MSRP with no stupid mark-ups and add-ons. This is southern California, one of the worst places to try and buy a car in right now so this dealer is almost an anomaly in todays market.
I called the dealer yesterday and spoke with my salesperson and he said yes, they are marking up the cars like everyone else but the big problem is the looky-loos who want to come in, drive around in the cars with no intention of buying. He said they even ask to drive Mavericks or other retail vehicles that are awaiting pickup by their buyers. I do not like the idea of running a credit check for a test drive, but these are weird times.
He also mentioned that if an existing customer with whom they have an established relationship with, they will sell the car at MSRP, no mark-ups.
I will continue to deal with Citrus Motors and stand by them as a reputable dealer. I have to take an article like this with a grain of salt. I even saw a youtube video bashing LongMcArthur Ford, where Tim the Ford Video Guy works so even the good guys get bashed sometimes.
