While I know that 11/15 is a lot more recent than some people have been waiting for their trucks, I was starting to get the feeling that I would not be getting a 2022 build date. I ordered an XL with spray in bedliner, 360, 4k tow, and a 'full' size spare and the dealer seems to not be getting any Mavericks. I got a call from a Chevy dealer I was talking to and they had a new Colorado Z71 which I snatched up over the weekend. I have no regrets about ordering the Maverick or the Chevy, I am actually kind of bummed because I still really like the Maverick, especially the gas mileage.

When I called Ford the not long ago the made it sound like my order would get built. The dealer had no idea one way or the other, they just kept guessing dates. The lack of communication around this process is astonishing. When I called to let my sales person know I didn't want the order, he wasn't surprised and when I said I was worried it wouldn't get built he said probably not. He also said they wouldn't have a problem selling it anyway which I am sure is 100% true. I know things are unprecedented right now but how did Ford not make adjustments to the process of allocating and scheduling after the Bronco Sport launch? This whole process has left a bad taste in my mouth about Ford. My wife has a Bronco Sport and we both love it but that was kind of a fluke that we fell into getting that. Does anyone else feel the same way? I am really hoping this doesn't become the norm when buying a new car.

EDIT - Just to add, the dealer I went through does not do market adjustments to jack up the price. Also, the only reason I bought a different truck was because I need to be able to pull a trailer and was worried I would not ever get a build date.

I'm still waiting for a build date and I ordered June 19. A couple months ago the dealer who has no clue said chances are I will not get my Lariat in MY 2022. It is a small town, mom and pop dealership. They sold it to me under msrp and I'm sure they soon realized they made a mistake. By holding me off they probably think they can get me to drop the order and when it does come in, sell it as stock for much more money. I hate to think of it in those terms since that is slimy but we all know dealers are not the most integrity minded individuals, profit being their only goal. I have not dropped the order although a few months ago I purchased a Ridgeline and it is the best purchase I've made. If the Maverick should ever come in I will make the decision at that time to drop it or buy it and resell at a profit to me, if the market is still hot and I think I can make a few grand on the turn around.

Your dealer will love having an extra Maverick to sell.

I think the way things are going makes a good case for getting rid of the dealer model. I hate how some dealers try to make the negotiation process extra tough to squeeze out a few extra bucks. I know they are in business to make money but they should have clear pricing then.

I'm sure they will if it ever comes in. Sucks for my sales guy because he lost a guaranteed sales and now it will be up for grabs.
He will get a sale, and will get more money for selling it to the next guy.

I’m also eyeing the Colorado.

meh, just another clueless parting shot post to complain about a vehicle they never really cared about owning in the 1st place. Buying a mid-size instead proves the Maverick was just a "nice idea" purchase rather than buying a segment revitalizing, perfect fit vehicle for so many of us.

Why can't people just fade away gracefully and stop posting instead? 🤷‍♂️

Neither Ford nor the dealer will care. Demand is greater than Ford's current ability to produce the vehicles and your dealer's current inventory.

When I handed my ordered, but not yet built, XL over to the dealer, after finding a delivered and refused Mav, the GM complained that it would affect their allocation if the customer who ordered didn't take delivery on that vehicle.
I have no idea if that's true, or he was trying to make me feel bad about buying from a different dealer.

They hope you don't take you vehicle, they can sell it for more than you paid, I ordered oct 18 got my first build date 3/28 then changed to 4/11 then changed to 4/25 the way it's going it will be moved again. I got lucky chev allowed all leases 6 months extension's but thinking of buying my lease can make 3/4k on the deal.

I didn't want a mid-size, I wanted the Maverick to tow a very tiny camper. I have a Bronco Sport and basically love it but it can't tow more sow we were going to trade in our Escape for the Maverick I was tired of waiting so I jumped at the first opportunity I could. I just was wondering if I was in the same boat with feeling like Ford could have handled this better. Down the road I may want to look at Ford again when I am ready for another new car and I would hope that they changed this whole process in the future.
