I got that too a few weeks ago. I threw everything I had in the passenger seat and on the floor of the passenger seat (it wasnt a lot), to the back. The sensor still didnt go away. Drove home, googled the problem... found nothing. The next morning I turned it on and the message was gone, and it hasnt come back on again.
Weird. Would like to know what caused it and where the sensor is.

I just checked my truck and the message is gone.
The occupant sensor is under the seat. It’s a sensor, that tells the car you are sitting on the seat. It’s a grey sensor under the fabric.

Do you have seat covers? If straps are attached to springs, rods, or bars under the seat, it makes the sensor think the seat is occupied. I just had this happen on our Highlander. Make sure there are no other obstructions under the seat.

I was of the understanding that the sensor was activated by whether the rear doors were opened, not if any pressure on the seats. I do know there is a setting whereby you can disable the warning.

I got the same message. This appeared after trying the Horn/Lights on the Ford Pass iPhone App.

Would not go away until I tried the Horn/Lights again later.

I tried the horn/lights in the Ford app about 3 weeks ago. Never seen that warning message. Not too sure what it could be related to.

I just started getting this as well... nothing on, under, or attached to the seat. Anyone figure out what the issue is that is causing this?

Mine did that for the first month or so I had the truck. It went away and never came back.

I do have an arm and Hammer baking soda fridge packet under the passenger seat.

Sensors. I've kinda had it with them the last few years. When the vehicle gets older they start acting up and make a non-problem into a headache. But, they're not going away so we're dealing with it. How's the Maverick service manual?

The pricey Service Information (USB service manual) is a disappointment, and offers almost no useful information. The printed schematic diagrams are better, but they really don't have much of an index where you can look up "occupant sensor". The only thing I see in a quick glance is the weight sensor in the seat that disables the SRS. I think Ford wants everyone dependent upon the dealership. We need to lobby congress to pass a right-to-repair bill...
