Ford coming out with a new truck that ends up being more popular than they could have imagined in what unfortunately coincided with a worldwide sh**show of pandemic and the resulting domino effect it caused is a major feat on their part.

And those that are pissed, it isn't so hard to see, are the type that are pissed about everything in life that doesn't show up wrapped in a bow.
I cannot disagree more. The Worldwide scamdemic sh**show gave Ford the go ahead with a new business model it has wanted for years. Only build what is actually ordered with a few extra for the dealerships to make their money on. No more dealer lots filled with leftovers needing rebates to move off of lot while simultaneously driving up cost of the used inventory. But first they had to see if their customers would wait months for their vehicle and now they see they will. Second, only build what is ordered and third give lip service to their customers demanding dealerships to stop selling over MSRP but in reality letting the dealerships sell the Maverick at above MSRP for as much as someone is willing to pay based on their situation and immediate needs. This plan has worked to perfection. Now notice all other brands of vehicles have joined in and are doing exact same thing. Morally corrupt but genius for their stockholders at same time. Prove me wrong.

Heck of a job for Ford to talk over 6 million people into dying just so they can f you over on a $25k truck.

These thread are always interesting. Thanks to @jtpc2021 for starting a thread with an upbeat tone.

I've had a Maverick on order since early January. It's ordered via a fleet program so there really isn't any tracking or info that I'm aware of. To be transparent, I just ordered this out of curiosity to see what a Focus with a vestigial truck bed (El Focusamino...Focuereo?) would be like. If it shows up, that's fine. If it doesn't, that's equally fine.

I live and work in an area where pickups are a big deal. The ordering dealer is in agriculture and oil ground central. They are also on the board of my company and do offer some insights. It's fair to say that they were surprised by the interest in the Maverick. At the end of the run, the similarly sized Ranger was a slow seller. That, coupled with the fact that the Maverick isn't really a truck nor a really a car suggested that it would be nothing more than a modest success. The main feature really is price. Maverick is cheap, and that brings us to the elephant in the room.

Let's say you're a logistician for Ford Motor Company and you know your suppliers and ship 100000 copies of 'super chip model 100' this year. 'Super chip model 100' enables features across the entire model range. You have to decide how many of these go into high margin vehicles or low margin vehicles. What do you think is going to happen? If you're a Ford shareholder (disclosure: I do not currently own any Ford shares) you damn sure want the Super Duty orders filled and the scraps to go to the Maverick.

The reality is that the Maverick isn't important to Ford in the big picture. It's great that they made it. It's great that it's popular. The question is; is it actually good for Ford? I believe that the answer is a resounding NO. Cheap cars are typically misused and discarded, causing long term repetitional damage. It's hard to image and path that creates brand loyalty and future revenues because the Maverick is so far removed from actual Ford trucks that it doesn't relate. Maverick owners will all trade for Subarus.

In summary, I do believe that Ford is doing the best they know how for Maverick customers. For Maverick customers though, it's deeply irrational to expect priority when ordering the least profitable model in the portfolio.

See, it's your opinion that so many people have died or suffer from lasting injuries. Really, it was all planned so that Ford could introduce products that they then wouldn't actually be able to build and thus sell. That's the scam! They never really intended to build any Mavericks, they just kept repeating the lie so many times that eventually they bought it!

Dunno, let me think about that for a while and get back to you...

You build what you can with the parts you can get.
Then why does my build date keep getting shoved into the future?

It‘s a hybrid XL, with just three non-constrained options. If they can’t build that, then how can they schedule hybrid Lariats, Luxes and such in place of mine?

They’re doing a lousy job, and deserve to be roasted for it.

Just wanted to post this to counter all the negative posts.
In my opinion Ford is doing a good job.
I’m grateful they are making the Maverick now that so many trucks have grown in size and price.

This is my first Ford, and it has left me with appreciation of the brand as a whole.
I'm with you.

With supply chain issues and the world situation in general, I get why production and delivery have been problematic. The thing I don’t get is the allocation process. Hard to accept not even having a build date on an early July hybrid when I’m seeing multiple instances of the same truck already being delivered for September and later orders. That’s my only issue with Ford during this process

Wait, you are scheduled? Wow!

If the parts don't show up when they are supposed to, things get delayed.

At least you are scheduled.

My XL Hybrid was ordered on 6/17/2021. Only option is a trailer hitch. Not scheduled yet.

Just looked and the price of oil on Sunday evening is up to $124.53/barrel for WTI. If the US boycotts Russian oil and stops importation, it will go higher. Definitely going to wait on my Hybrid Maverick.

Count your blessings - it could be worse. And it's just a truck.

Hope you get it soon.
