..I saw, in the fine print, somewhere on the information of the hybrid that the 40 something miles per gallon was with premium fuel. What, a 13 gallon tank and 10 cents more per gallon, $1.30 more per tank..........I'm going for it.
Premium costs a lot more than 10 cents per gallon more than regular.I saw, in the fine print, somewhere on the information of the hybrid that the 40 something miles per gallon was with premium fuel. What, a 13 gallon tank and 10 cents more per gallon, $1.30 more per tank..........I'm going for it.
1 mpg over what was probably only 300-500 miles isn't even useful, statistically. One day of being in a bad mood can cause bigger swings in MPG than that. One guy put a full tank of 91 in his Hybrid and said the MPG went up by 1.
It would be, though Flex Fuel makes me nervous for some reason. Maybe because I've never owned a vehicle that could actually run it. Cheaper gas would be wonderful though. It would be really cool if we could use Flex Fuel E85 in the Mav considering it's a dollar cheaper a gallon.
That's for the 2.0L Ecoboost, which is documented elsewhere specifically as "87, unless..."[SNIP]
Page 172, For best overall vehicle and engine performance, premium fuel with an octane rating of 91 or higher is recommended.
That page is not specific to the 2.0. Everything I have read and Googled says both engines will “operate” on 87 however Ford “recommends premium“ for both engines. I’m running 91+ in mine. That's for the 2.0L Ecoboost, which is documented elsewhere specifically as "87, unless..."
The 2.5L Hybrid drinks 87. Maybe if the hybrid had the 4K tow package Ford would suggest 91 while under load, but we don't have to worry about that.
Have fun spending several thousand dollars more on fuel over the course of the vehicles life for no benefit what so ever. Premium fuel has no more energy per gallon than regular 87 octane. However, ethanol free fuel DOES contain more energy per gallon than regular (10% ethanol) fuel. That page is not specific to the 2.0. I don't know about you or about what kind of vehicle you have but I can guarantee that in my "many" trips back east from California, in my Chrysler V8, I got better milage and performance when I ran ethyl (that's what us old folks use to call premium gas and the gas use to have lead in it)Have fun spending several thousand dollars more on fuel over the course of the vehicles life for no benefit what so ever. Ethanol has about 67% of the energy density of pure gasoline.I don't
