So in 2021 when the Ford Maverick was revealed and picking off steam I learned of spy shots of a new compact truck from Ford, being the Ford Courier which was a past discontinued model from Ford, and I was quite surprised by its history. According to the video analysis it's not a van or a crew cab, and seems to be a two door single cab truck, being this is a prototype they could be testing.

If this new re-imagined Ford Courier tuns out to to be reality we could be looking at two new compact pickup trucks which shows growth and demand for compact pickup trucks here in North America. It's smaller than the ranger according to reports.

Honestly if that's anything at all for our market, it's the replacement for the Transit Connect. That very well could be called a Courier.
Sounds like a van name to me as well, perhaps a standard/smaller van that is still business-oriented that would slot under the transit connect.

Also, the spy shots strongly suggest a van - rear passenger side door and corresponding cut in the fabric for a door slide mechanism. Of course that could be intentional deception, but I don't think they'd go that far to hide the type of vehicle.

that video was from March 2019, and all his bullet points on the whiteboard were clearly wrong.

that test mule dressed in black is undeniably compact van sized, not a truck shape at all. (n)

Hmmm, I wonder if you will have to show your AARP card to submit an order for the Courier, or if that policy will end with the passenger version of the Transit Connect.

Thats a van. Give it to me with 2.0t AWD and the ability to lift it higher than that and I am in. I need a van. The Maverick is good for now, maybe by the time they get a good 4wd version of it I will be ready for a trade-in.

Why would they be testing a truck with a full cap instead of the base with a bed and flat short tailgate?

Courier also just feels like it implies delivery van. Packages, etc. And yes, a small lightweight, highly fuel efficient ev or hybrid delivery van would have a huge market.

Ford's gonna take the funeral industry by storm with that sexy new model. Undertakers across the country are going to be lining up six deep at their local Ford dealer to get their order in early for that bad boy. ;) 😂

That was the Maverick disguised to look like a Transit Connect, kinda thought that was old news.
Ford has said that "Maverick" could be a line of vehicles, and building a Transit Connect replacement in Mexico, based on the Maverick would be exempt from the chicken tax, and wouldn't need to be retrofitted from passenger vehicle to cargo van after import. Raise the roof, give it a van body, block out the windows and use the same hybrid engine - instant bread van!

That is what I went into the Ford dealer hoping to find, a hybrid Transit Connect. Wishful thinking, that. Needed to haul an E-bike inside out of site and weather. But instead, I fell for the Maverick, and ordered mine in the first week of August. Thought they should have named the Maverick a Courier, having had one back in the late 70's. But you guys have convinced me that Courier name actually fits the Transit better. Email from Ford has changed the build date 3 times, up and back, but latest is March 21st. Hope the world is still here at that time....

I remember when the Courier was the tiny pickup. It and the Chevy Luv.
The 80s were a wild time with tiny trucks...

But "Courier" would be a better name for a transit/delivery vehicle, and with other things happening, I could see a smaller parcel/delivery/service vehicle on the same platform as the Maverick.
