One month in and I’m having doubts

I’m not sure if’s it is the new paint (water based) or the aluminum panels or combination of both but I have seen newer vehicles do seem to chip easier. However they do offer wraps/coating, etc even from the factory/dealerships and aftermarket and it’s always better to try avoiding the construction stuff and for the interior yes coating with something like armor all or other protectant pretty much solves that issue too. Good comments & bad about the speaker’s most don’t like them and myself included I miss my Sony system from my old focus. The seating I haven’t noticed in mine with 8k miles? The power train has been proven in many ford vehicles over the past years and like other members said you can sell /trade in for something else you may like better - best of luck with your choice.

I believe I read somewhere that only the hood is aluminum and the rest of the body is steel.

I always drive with a towel on the seat. That way if you spill food, have dirt on your jeans after hiking, or just the wear of getting in and out of your truck thousands of times, you never come in contact with the actual seat. My 2012 Chevy Colorado seems to have almost the exact same cloth that the base hybrid has. After ten years, the driver seat doesn’t look much different than the back seat which has been used maybe ten times.

Seriously? Why the heck would you be buying a new vehicle? It seems the bus is what you need, or a really cheap beater. Work on the income then think about a better car, still not new though.

No matter how much you spend or what vehicle you buy, you are going to run into issues. One of my sisters had a higher end, brand new Mercedes. Starting at 40,000 miles, it was one thing after another and getting parts was an issue. They seemed to always have the car for multiple days to a week. On top of it, the people at the Mercedes dealer where they bought had a “how dare you have ANY complaints about a Mercedes. “ By 65,000 they sold it.

Hey, chill out. It’s just advice that most dads would give their kids. You want something new, go get a new game machine. At least it won’t break the bank. I bought a ‘79 Firebird brand new after I got out of college. I was making $12K. It was stupid and I admit it now. Just trying to save someone from making my mistake. 100% buying a vehicle that costs a years salary is a terrible idea (especially a new vehicle!)

My father in law used to ride the bus to work primarily to save money
His office was a block away from his stop, he preferred to only have one payment vs two
The family car stayed at home with mom and the kids

I’ve owned a lot of cars, a lot. I’ve owned trucks like Ford Rangers, Nissan Frontiers, Silverados, Mazda. I’ve owned Ford Explorers, Honda Civics, Escorts, Cavaliers, Santa Fe, Volvo, Mercedes, Porsche.

I also used to work in a Jaguar repair shop.

I’ve owned a lot of cheap cars and as mentioned the majority of cheap stuff you expect, plastic, rattles, etc. Paint has only been an issue on one of the cheap cars I ever owned but that car lived it’s whole live in Hawaii and that was a common issue there. Seats in cheap cars usually held up for many years without issue.
If you want to compare the Maverick as a Ford Escort of trucks I guess that’s a fair comparison but I doubt many people here thought of it that way when buying. But maybe that’s the mindset I need to take so paint chips don’t bother me

Again I’m not saying it’s junk or a lemon or anything, my concern is how it will hold up after a couple of years. Ive had lots of good looking cheap cars after a couple of years.

If what people are saying about paint changing due to environmental protection laws then perhaps it’s just normal for any new car.

Again not hating on the truck, love the truck, love the idea and design, just not overly impressed about the cosmetic quality and hope any issues don’t extend beyond that.

You all wish the new Mavericks could measure up to this BEAST...get some!

My Maverick MSRP is 25% of my annual salary. And I still consider this a very expensive purchase! I couldn't imagine owning a $140K car. 100% of my annual salary would be a huge financial burden. Even if financed 84 months.

Spend 25k on a new vehicle, expect quality of a 75k vehicle. Ok then. You wanted a cheap truck, well you got one.

I keep saying this truck over 30k isn’t a good value anymore at that price point, some disagree but I feel this is nothing more than cheap, hopefully dependable (time will tell), daily beater.

This. We view cars as appliances; although we can afford whatever we want, we were looking at prius, corolla hybrid, or maybe something a little more exciting like a Mazda 3 when we came across the maverick. It's cheaper than all of them, has a pretty proven and efficient powerplant, and has a little added utility over what else we were looking at. If I was considering spending $30k+, there's about zero chance I'd be considering a maverick.

I said this in another thread, but I think it is the people who threw $15k worth of faux leather, a very mediocre upgraded stereo, and decals on a $20k base model truck who are going to be disappointed. At $20k-$25k there is literally no competition for the Maverick, at $30k+ there is and you have a right to be disappointed because there are alternatives.

What quality vehicles can you buy at this price point?
Regardless of the money someone earns in a year this is still a very inexpensive truck

I’m 2500 miles in and have had zero issues or concerns
I am 100% happy with my choice
If I had an issues I’d for sure be talking to my dealer for resolution…. Keep in mind they get paid by Ford when there is an issue
In my experience dealers on “give you the run around” when the issues could be considered questionable as well as when people show up being very demanding

Rock chips on a hood happens to EVERY vehicle when a high velocity rock gets in your path
Not much is going to be done 4-5 months after a brand new vehicle is released
If it turns out to be a widespread issue they will take care of it (experience here is daughters FJ Cruiser that got its hood repainted, I’m sure Ford would do the same)

As long as you're within the warranty. The dealership take care of any and all issues
