Found chips in paint on front fender today, as bad as any chip I had on my 14 year old Honda Element with 225K I just sold. My wife’s 10 year old car doesn’t have any chips like this.

The list of little annoyances is starting to build.

If it’s getting chips after a month I can’t imagine how crappy it’s going to look in 10 years.

Interior plastic scratches easier than any car I’ve ever owned.

Cloth seat covers not mounted to cushions as others have noted and look “loose” in places.

Speakers are junk, we’ve seen the pictures so not surprising.

Im really concerned about the longevity of these vehicles.

I really like the truck but either this is first year incompetence or they cheaped out on everything.

For a $19K truck maybe this type of thing is acceptable these days but when you add features and pay $30k or more this is ridiculous.

I honestly wouldn’t recommend it to anyone right now based on the level of quality on some of these things. Hope the mechanical parts are built better than the rest of it.

Wow, that's frustrating. I too also have one chip. But I was expecting it when I went looking for it. I was on I-5 and a semi in front of me drove over the line and kicked up a mess of rocks at me. I was pretty upset when I found a chip after that episode. But expected in that kind of instance.

I had a minor scratch one week in, and treated my plastic with Armor All Matte Finish and no new scratches or scuffs. Been applying about every 6 weeks now. It also helps with dust particulate sticking to the dash. But left in its natural condition, you're right. The plastics will look like trash in short order.

I haven't had any fit and finish issues, or squeaks or rattles yet. I'm at 3,300 miles. My B&O speakers so far are holding up to my pretty loud K-POP blaring, and my Active X seats looks as great as the day I took delivery.

I sure hope that your issues don't continue to degrade further. I just want everyone to be as happy as I am. :(

So lets summarize your list of complaints

If it’s getting chips after a month I can’t imagine how crappy it’s going to look in 10 years.

We have no context here. Where have you been driving? What are the source of the chips?

Interior plastic scratches easier than any car I’ve ever owned.

Its a sub $20K truck. What were you expecting? You can wrap it for a couple of $100 if you really wanted to.

Cloth seat covers not mounted to cushions as others have noted and look “loose” in places.

This sounds like a QC issue that your dealer should take care of. Did you contact them about it yet?

Speakers are junk, we’ve seen the pictures so not surprising.

Its a sub $20K truck. What were you expecting? You can replace them with better ones for under $100

So you are really unhappy? You have the option to sell it and get back what you paid. Good luck in finding ANY car that gives you the value that the Maverick has. But if those are your complaints, you should really purchase in a different price bracket.

And PS: Many owners here that have owned for much longer than you, and I don't see the complaints from them. The speaker quality is known. The easy interior scratching is know. Both are solvable for just a couple of $100.

Hey, what wrapping are you referring to for the inside? I've purchased the clear paint protector in my build for the outside and have a guy ready to do a ceramic coating before I even drive it but I'd love to do something to the inside to maintain the new look as long as possible.

I’m not sure if’s it is the new paint (water based) or the aluminum panels or combination of both but I have seen newer vehicles do seem to chip easier. However they do offer wraps/coating, etc even from the factory/dealerships and aftermarket and it’s always better to try avoiding the construction stuff 🙄 and for the interior yes coating with something like armor all or other protectant pretty much solves that issue too. Good comments & bad about the speaker’s most don’t like them and myself included I miss my Sony system from my old focus. The seating I haven’t noticed in mine with 8k miles? The power train has been proven in many ford vehicles over the past years and like other members said you can sell /trade in for something else you may like better - best of luck with your choice.

This is a good example of when "what do you expect for 20k?" shouldn't apply. The fabric should stay on the seats and the paint should stay on the bumper at any price point. Hope it gets better for you, but if not, head to carvana and put 5-10k in your pocket and move on. Once you see all the issues, they’re hard to unsee.

Hopefully, the hoods don't start looking like the the Explorer hoods from a couple years ago. Our neighbor had a 2019 and it bubbled up and peeled off in the first 6 months of ownership. Very mild driving conditions year round here in East Tennessee and she basically just uses it as a grocery getter. Still no recall from Ford.

https://fordauthority.com/2021/05/j... technical service,models, but never a recall.

If you don’t like it now you won’t like it in 2 years. Sell it now while you can still get all your money back.

What quality vehicles can you buy at this price point?
Regardless of the money someone earns in a year this is still a very inexpensive truck

I’m 2500 miles in and have had zero issues or concerns
I am 100% happy with my choice
If I had an issues I’d for sure be talking to my dealer for resolution…. Keep in mind they get paid by Ford when there is an issue
In my experience dealers on “give you the run around” when the issues could be considered questionable as well as when people show up being very demanding

Rock chips on a hood happens to EVERY vehicle when a high velocity rock gets in your path
Not much is going to be done 4-5 months after a brand new vehicle is released
If it turns out to be a widespread issue they will take care of it (experience here is daughters FJ Cruiser that got its hood repainted, I’m sure Ford would do the same)

Do you recommend a hood protector?

Yeah was gonna say the same about the paint…. If it’s a widespread issue or even widespread for one particular color, I’ve seen paint recalls by other auto makers and am sure Ford would do the same down the road if it came to that.

There are definitely differences in paint even among the same brand. Ram and Fiat 500 are both FCA products, yet the Ram after more than a decade its hard to find many chips, but the Fiat by contrast looks like it was hit with a shotgun after a year. Seems like the PPF option is worth it for the Mav.

I've seen the cloth issue you're talking about, and according to some Ford isn't warrantying it, which is a shame. Lariat trim doesn't seem to have that issue.

Soft interior plastics, not really sure what to do about that other than don't be too rough or live with some scratches. I'm usually pretty gentle, so am not too concerned about that part.
