Spend 25k on a new vehicle, expect quality of a 75k vehicle. Ok then. You wanted a cheap truck, well you got one.

I keep saying this truck over 30k isn’t a good value anymore at that price point, some disagree but I feel this is nothing more than cheap, hopefully dependable (time will tell), daily beater.

I’ve wrapped vehicles before but never an interior. Would very much like to on the whitish port-a-potty plastic though. Good luck getting a vinyl to adhere well though. As for scratches, I’ve had the Doberman in the back seat with her toenails scraping each door for 1000 miles and I still do not see any scratches from those. Otherwise, no rattles, squeaks or other boogie men going bump in the night. Loud knock on wood. I’m putting PPF on the hood leading edges and front bumper myself. Had a few chips but that’s what happens from driving 1000 miles on the interstate at 75mph with semi’s all around.

Do you recommend a hood protector?

After 4k miles I have several chips on the front edge of the hood. I bought touch-up paint to cover for now. I have purchased the hood protector but disappointed in the quality. I will still install the protector when it gets warmer even the quality is not great.

He compared the fit and finish to a well used Honda Element…not a $75k vehicle by any stretch of the imagination. The Element also has a ton of interior plastic, so I’d say it’s a pretty fair comparison.

Soon as I get my Maverick I’ll be getting PPF on full hood, 1/2 fenders, mirrors and head lights.

Understand and agree. It’s a general statement since the complaints I’m seeing are generally because the maverick is nothing more than a cheap vehicle. Hence, it’s cheap

The trick with a cheap vehicle is you have to drive an even cheaper vehicle beforehand so you can ease into it. When we moved back to Tennessee from Florida and I drove a U-Haul 12 hours with teeth clenched in the deafening noise of the highway, it would have been the perfect time to push me onto a dealer lot. A Chevy Spark would have felt like a Maserati at that point. :)

Hood deflector makes sense.

For me personally, a few years ago I bought a Hyundai Sonata for a couple grand less than what I got my maverick for (all in, taxes etc) and that car was junk. Everything plastic and breaking within 2 years. And that was just a little car.

So no, for this price range today would be like buying a $9000 new car in 2000.

If you want quality for under 30k today.

As for your chip complaint (different chip complaint than most have about their yet to be built mavericks) is that maybe you got a bad dip in the paint bay. Not properly prepared, etc. Who knows. Only have mine two weeks and no such problems yet in almost 800mi.

Honda Element comparison: Not saying anything at all, just found this interesting as I was wondering what it would be with 2021 dollars. Elements were sweet.

Killer vehicle for tall people…about a foot of headroom. With the seats folded up we fit a washer/dryer set in the back. Awesome boxes with terrible mpg to match lol!

That's where I am at. I have never had a vehicle with less than 120K miles on it (except the motorcycle). They all rode like hell, with basic options, and pre-damaged interiors. A Maverick is going to feel like heaven.

Found chips in paint on front fender today, as bad as any chip I had on my 14 year old Honda Element with 225K I just sold. My wife’s 10 year old car doesn’t have any chips like this.

The list of little annoyances is starting to build.

If it’s getting chips after a month I can’t imagine how crappy it’s going to look in 10 years.

Interior plastic scratches easier than any car I’ve ever owned.

Cloth seat covers not mounted to cushions as others have noted and look “loose” in places.

Speakers are junk, we’ve seen the pictures so not surprising.

Im really concerned about the longevity of these vehicles.

I really like the truck but either this is first year incompetence or they cheaped out on everything.

For a $19K truck maybe this type of thing is acceptable these days but when you add features and pay $30k or more this is ridiculous.

I honestly wouldn’t recommend it to anyone right now based on the level of quality on some of these things. Hope the mechanical parts are built better than the rest of it.
Really? with several bitchfest threads already here- you HAD to start a brand new 1 because you are craving attention or something? Total waste of bandwidth and bad form.

Stifle yourself Edith!

So interesting feedback and I’ll clarify a couple of things.

#1 - I like the truck, I’m not trying to be a naysayer.

My truck was $30K not $20K. People are paying $35-40K in some cases. Even a $20K truck shouldn’t have paint issues.
Cheap plastic I can live with, but the paint is a major issue and has been well documented as an issue already for many owners.

#3 My Honda Element was 20K and was a cheap car at the time, really the equivalent of a $30K maverick.

#4 My driving has been 50/50 and no gravel roads etc. I have the aeroskin hood guard on the leading edge thank god but nothing on the fenders.

Cheap speakers I can live with and plastic scratching isn’t a huge deal and even the seats is liveable but when you start putting it all together it seems sloppy. And I hate sloppy work.

Im not planning to sell the truck, I’m just raising the red flag that in another year or two I’m not sure how well these will hold up cosmetically. Not trying to rain on the parade as they are very cool trucks and I’m excited as everyone else about them, but it’s important that we note the good with the bad.

So lets summarize your list of complaints

If it’s getting chips after a month I can’t imagine how crappy it’s going to look in 10 years.

We have no context here. Where have you been driving? What are the source of the chips?

Interior plastic scratches easier than any car I’ve ever owned.

Its a sub $20K truck. What were you expecting? You can wrap it for a couple of $100 if you really wanted to.

Cloth seat covers not mounted to cushions as others have noted and look “loose” in places.

This sounds like a QC issue that your dealer should take care of. Did you contact them about it yet?

Speakers are junk, we’ve seen the pictures so not surprising.

Its a sub $20K truck. What were you expecting? You can replace them with better ones for under $100

So you are really unhappy? You have the option to sell it and get back what you paid. Good luck in finding ANY car that gives you the value that the Maverick has. But if those are your complaints, you should really purchase in a different price bracket.
This perfectly describes my thoughts haha what? Ford didn’t build the maverick to the spec of a Lexus??? 🤷‍♂️ the trucks base price is 8000 dollars cheaper here in canada than a honda civic. A honda. Civic. Lol and 12k cheaper than the base hyundai santa cruz. So if you were expecting it to have all the refinement of cars in a different price class… you can pay someone half of the difference in prices to fix all your gripes about the car. Be thankful the cloth isn’t adhered to the cushions so you can get a custom leather kit installed. To me, id rather a company charge me less, and let me decide what features i want to add and when i want to add them once i have the truck, than charge me a premium including a bunch of features i dont care for at all.… why did you buy a maverick!!! Lol dont take this as a hateful comment. I know through text it can appear aggressive. Im just failing to understand your perspective. But i do appreciate your honest review
