I'm thinking they'll announce it sometime in late July or early August. I'll go with late in the day on Aug 5th since it's a Friday and people will have the weekend to cool down.

Who says they can’t?

Hermosillo is building Mavericks at near capacity rates now.

Not what I've seen so far. I understood listening to the two Youtube channels that build the Mavericks that the Mexican plant with no supply chain shortages has the ability to build 300k Mavericks/Broncos a year....in other words cut that down the middle and the Mavericks should be able to reach 150k a year. Maverick builds are nowhere close to those numbers...and based upon the Maverick forecasts will not be anywhere near that number before MY23 comes along....and probably not close to that number even then...in other words the plant has capacity to build 25,000 vehicles a month but with the supply chain issues they are likely less then half of that...

~6,500 in January if I remember correctly, so just a tad short of 25,000.

A little over 7800 produced for January, my order was one of them. Since orders have began they have made around 33000, sounds about right my VIN is around 35000. When it comes to actual orders, I'm guessing there are around 80000 at most. Thousands of those June & July orders were never completed properly & won't be built. Traditionally auto makers built into July of the model year & began about 2 months later for the next year. If they can keep making 7-8 thousand per month, if all the parts are available, they should be able to make all MY22, no reason they can't keep making 22's into September if needed. There are going to be very few changes after the first year, so it won't take much to change over to MY23, & then MAYBE start putting them on dealer lots. To put things in perspective Ford is making nearly 30000 F-150 models EVERY month, the Maverick isn't Ford highest priority, its popular because its affordable, efficient & basically replaces the Focus-Fiesta-Fusion-Taurus, there are no more Ford 'cars'.

They wont ever announce that. That would require taking ownership of their problems.

Ford never planned to build 150k units in the first place. More like 80k, and at 7k per month, seems pretty close to plan. The 22MY Maverick is sold out, so naturally it will take the remainder of the model year to build them.

Ford’s biggest problem was grossly underestimating the demand in what can only be described as a massive market forecasting failure.

Call me crazy but I do not believe as of today that I will see my mid-oct eco/lux/4k order until maybe mid/late summer....but am fully preparing not to see it until next yr as a my23...i hope I am wrong....I "purchased" a place holder mav from what we thought was dealer stock as dealer said it was scheduled to be delivered first week january....i need a vehicle as my current work truck is on the way out and that placeholder truck was delivered to a railyard and has been sitting there for 5weeks....

so I dont think my estimates for my actual ordered truck are too far off but i sure hope i am wrong...

That wasn't the question. The comment was that Ford was building at capacity and they are not. Regardless of their plan to build only 80k , they have the capacity to more then double that if they had a decent supply chain. Besides I heard initially their plan was to build closer to 100k but unfortunately they planned approximately 70% being Ecco Boost....between supply chain issues and the fact they totally missed on their forecast for which truck folks wanted...Ford like many other auto companies also misjudged the recovery from the pandemic (how quickly folks would start buying vehicles)and let the semiconductor factories focus on game chips ( for XBox and the sort) rather then on automotive chips. Auto makers held off on getting their orders in for chips and when they did figure it out many of the semiconductor factories had taken orders for the games and elctronic devices rather then automotive chips. Leadtimes on producing semiconductor chips in some cases are months. Ford screwed up bigtime and whoever does their forecasting missed the boat and obviously Ford has some piss poor planning based upon forecast to not have recoginized the trend for the Hybrids early on and adjusted...

Sub-question: When they do deliver someones MY22 Maverick so far into 2022 that technically the car is a model year old at the time of delivery (summer '21-spring '22) and the truck takes that depreciation hit as soon as it rolls off the lot............how many customers will refuse to buy it at that point?

It's possible the chip shortage situation could improve in the coming months, albeit unlikely. It's possible by July/August chips could be more available. So we just can't say for certain if at all, Ford will make that call.
