Ford gave me 1.9% for 60 months.
How much do you think they made off that?

Me Too! Ford won't be making any money on financing from me as I will have cash saved to pay for it!

This all just seems crazy to me. People are excited to pay MSRP or more for a new car that probably has some of the worst quality control in years... and most dealers dont even have parts to fix them when they break. I just dont see how this is going to be resolved anytime soon.
One month and 1700 miles later, my Ford Maverick Lariat Hybrid is going strong, (40mpg). I am still very impressed with the build and performance....but fingers are still crossed, ( I gave up on Ford and Chevys 30 years ago).

People are silly. This is all about butthurt.

It's $100 guys. If you can afford the truck you can afford to wait and see what happens.

Here's an excerpt from a story about the Cyvertruck:

"Five people who forked out $100 to secure their Cybertruck order told Insider that they're feeling frustrated about the two-year wait, especially because they haven't had any updates from Tesla's customer service team.

Some said it was worth the wait, others requested refunds. They sent Insider email confirmations of their Cybertruck order payments made between 2019 and 2020.

The 6th paragraph is complete BS and apparently was written by someone who knows very little. Actually that’s sprinkled through the entire post.....

Couldn't have anything to do with the semi conductor shortage could it
Or unicorn horn shortage or rainbow washers…..as a consumer of many things I personally am fed up with excuses, excuses excuses…..my dishwasher order last summer might not even show up this year….lets hope our military is in better shape than our auto industry or the national drink will be vodka not Miller Lite (bad choice I know). Time to quit relying on other countrys to fulfill our desires…. Too much I want cheap from Walmart and not enough I want it made here attitude…. We let our world leading technology get sold to Wall Street so the 1%s can profit….. Oh btw… I am left leaning middle of the road kinda person

Ford can't promise you a real wait time if they don't know it.
It's their JOB to figure it out. Covid, chain supply problems. Make a freaking guess if nothing else. Leaving paying customers in the dark is a piss poor solution.

You know, a 10-11 month wait would be ok if I knew that going in.

I'm guessing a 10 month plus wait at thus point
Maybe Ford didn't know that going in?

When I initially ordered a Hybrid in Oct I was told 6 months if I was lucky and prob close to 9.

Excited? where? not anyone on this forum! no reason to get all wrapped round the axle on this stuff. Fish or cut bait :p There's a bigger picture here and many more reasons for buying the truck than what you seem aware of from your personal perspective. In my own case for example, I wasn't even ready to buy a truck yet. Had only talked off and on with my local dealer about what was in the pipeline ever since we got our 2018 F-150. We have specific heavy uses for that one, but most my other truck needs are for outdoor hobbies and a fun little run around Jack of all trades DD. Ranger and other mid-size trucks are too big and tall and come with a super sized price. I have the F-150 at my disposal and a low mileage paid off Grand Cherokee- so not desperate. Along comes Maverick that meets nearly every requirement I could foresee for the rest of my driving life- and happens to be less than I budgeted for a little truck after I sell a house I no longer want or need. I'm never going to sell the Mav, just like my Jeep and our F-150. We're retired and want what we want here and depreciation isn't a factor. Wait time isn't either. Only reason I got off the fence and placed my order when I did was the $750.00 rebate Ford sent me. Also you know they aren't going to get cheaper each year when the supply pipeline is fixed, so a couple extra 1000.00 is peanuts to GET IT NOW and understandable for people in certain situations. Having said that, my dealer has a policy of selling at MSRP and minor fees- so I don't HAVE TO pay over MSRP- but in other circumstances I wouldn't deny myself the vehicle I want because of ADM.

Today, Ford announced lower than expected stock returns with an almost 8% drop compared to their expected 11.2% gain. Ford's financial expert says this is due to a chip shortage, but it really comes down to the fact Ford cannot move the product to dealers, and customers are not able to purchase their vehicle.

Ford recently stopped taking orders for Mavericks for the remainder of 2022, with orders resuming in late summer for 2023 models. Many of us who placed orders in June - August still await any sign of a build date from Ford or communication from our dealer. The semiconductor shortage was already a high priority for auto manufacturers before the June roll-out of the Maverick. Ford should have seen the limited ability to build another product in the Mexico plant that was already struggling to build Bronco Sport. Ford made no issue in controlling the on going demand of placing reservations to create a "Beannie Baby" or "Cabbage Patch Doll buying frenzy for a truck touted to be UNDER $20,000. It seems Ford allowed the orders to keep piling up knowing there would be long term delays. It is very sad that a new product as the Hybrid was rolled out in such unfortunate times; but it is very unresponsible for Ford to allow the orders to keep coming in, allowing more and more consumers to become angry and distrustful of the brand and their dealers. No wonder their stock is down.

Now, many order bearers are faced with a choice of waiting for an unknown timeframe in getting their Maverick, buying something else (Which ends in Ford not making a sale at all), or paying whatever a dealer asks. Enter unscrupulous, greedy, used car salesman!

For those who feel the need to purchase a Maverick from a greedy dealer who is marking the vehicle up $3000-7500, which I see in many local dealers, remember your decision will haunt you for a long time.

First, like any new car, your Maverick will depreciate 25% the minute you drive it off the lot. This depreciated amount is related to the MSRP, not your sales price. So, if you paid more than the MSRP, you really got screwed, because you now lost more than the expected depreciation. And if you took a loan out to buy the Maverick you will pay months longer for a car not worth what you owe. Also, any profit you may have made in your trade-in car was just dropped out the window forever due to you paying more than MSRP for your Maverick.

Second, your taxes on the car will always be based, year after year, on your purchase price, so each year you will be punished for paying more than you should have for a vehicle that is nowhere worth what you paid for it.

And third, your insurance will be based on what your car is worth (Kelly Blue Book) as identified from your VIN number. If you paid more than the MSRP, you better have GAP coverage as most insurance will not cover more than what the vehicle is worth.

All around, it is better to wait and pay the agreed upon price than to be bullish and foolish by paying more than retail just to be "the first Maverick on the block." Just my thoughts. Some may offer different opinions, but financially you are not doing yourself any favors by paying for Ford's mistake in tking orders for something they knew they could not produce.
To be fair, Ford announced adjusted per share earning of .26 compared to forecast of .45 EPS. With big revenue shifting to Q2 its time to buy F.

Your opinion. Auto taxes in the three states I have lived in are based on what you aid for the car and then depreciated each year to address depreciation. Having worked closely with DMV throughout my career I do know "a little". Shame on you for making this PERSONAL. Let's keep this site civil where everyone's opinion is respected.

K-Mart and Sears declined because they didn't keep up with the times. There stores were old and outdated. They were not keeping up with products consumers wanted. Customers moved on. Also, they had vendor payment issues, couldn't keep product in the stores because they didn't pay their bills.

Ford is completely the opposite. Their products are in high demand and popular. The press is loving Ford. Ford is keeping up with the times and trends, if not even setting them. They are producing very popular products. People are beating down their doors. It's just an issue of supply and demand. And in this case, there are severe supply issues compounding.

Your obituary of Ford is extremely premature. Your personal feelings are clouding your judgment.
Thanks for your thoughts. You misundertsood my comments if you feel this was an obituary. I currently own two other newer Ford products and have NO personal feelings towards this company. Sears and K-Mart did not keep up with "the times" as you say, and that is true. Ford has not been transparent as to their inability to produce Mavericks and this is clearly evidenced by their continuance to take orders until a couple weeks ago knowing they had a large back-log of orders. They continue to build Mavericks which await delivery after Ford gets missing parts (as reported by Maverick Brand Manager Monday.) I like Ford, have stock in the corporation and have no ill feelings. I guess my interest in their message is that they knew of the problem and did not stop taking orders more quickly which I feel will only cause more anger and distrust by consumers. I wantr Ford to be successful and feel this issue will haunt them in the future. Yes, the media loves Ford right now, but the media is quick to turn their views. I pay little attention to what media is saying. I listen to people who are buying thid new truck. I feel their pain. Not the pain of Ford, who has orders piling up.

I'm in the same situation as you. Retired and comfortable. I am able to pay over MSRP, but feel for those who cannot. I only chose the Maverick Hybrid because I could tow it behind our motorhome replacing a four door jeep which has a stiff ride.
