Good news, bad news. The salesman told me it was damaged and then sold it to someone else!

Thank you, Ford marketing is my call this morning. I’m also debating about driving down to the dealer to talk with the manager since he will not return my calls.
Please keep us updated.
If Ford Marketing doesn’t validate the story and they keep dodging your calls I’d reach out to Levine before driving the 8 hours. He’s Ford’s communications director.

Yes, drive there and start pounding on desks until you get the information you deserve.
I don’t think there’s any point to it. If I find out it was sold to someone else I’m going to write some pretty bad reviews for that dealership!

Serious roof damage is structural damage. No way the dealer or Ford would sell it with a clean title.

My guess would be that Ford is the owner until the truck hits the dealer's parking lot. The roof damaged truck would be returned to the port or shipping storage yard, where it came from.

The truck would ultimately be repaired and sold on a salvage title.
None of that is true unless the vehicle is un-reparable. Ive seen new trucks with the bed smashed repaired ( whole bed replaced and repainted )and sold as "new" . Usually the shipping company pays the body shop to repair the damage and its sold as new. For this truck to not be repaired would mean the roof was crushed in beyond repair - uh huh. And no one has any photos of this horrific damage ?? Uh-huh. Heres an article on damage and the dealers -

So last night I get a call from someone at the dealership thanking me for my business. I replied I hadn’t completed a transaction there yet and was still waiting to hear about my truck delivery. He said it would be arriving at the dealer today, Wednesday, and my salesman would be giving me a call. I thanked him, hung up and started packing for my 8 hour road trip. I was so excited I got up at 3 AM and left by 4:30 AM. As I was driving through Jacksonville my salesman called and I was so excited! He said “I have some good news and some news that might make you a little upset.“ Then he said the truck arrived but it had been damaged on the transport truck and the roof was so damaged they had to return it! I was stunned and couldn’t say anything for a minute or two and then I just blurted out that I was not a little upset, I was a lot upset! He apologized and said they would give me highest priority for another Lariat that was unclaimed. I’m afraid that did not make me feel any better! Back to the waiting game 😩
Wow... I sensed all of those emotions right there with you as I read this... except, these last 2 years of the Pandemic and managing expectations - has changed my emotional side quite a bit. I hope you get a prompt replacement. BTW when did you originally order?

There is absolutely nothing "truly weird" about refusing to accept delivery of an item (in this case, a Ford Maverick) that was damaged in transit. The best way to report serious in-transit damage is at time of delivery, by refusing delivery.
Dealers don't REFUSE deliveries of vehicle off of transport trucks, it's not done that way. They except the vehicle with damage noted and documented and signed off by the driver (assuming delivery was made during business hours). Then forms are completed for reimbursement from transporter/insurance. Even if damage was so extensive it couldn't be repaired (never heard of that, I suppose it's possible). The vehicle would still sit on the dealers lot until the issue is resolved.

I never got to order a hybrid, only the EB. I just kept calling dealers and asking if anyone had changed their minds on their orders and lucked into this CO one.

Good to know. This dealer was already on the “greedy dealers“list!

I wonder what highest priority Means... 😒
And why they don't do highest priority to All June July Orders??

Ford need to Answer a lot of questions. I understand pandemic and chip shortage were bad Times but by now they should be done with all orders from Jun,Jul,Aug,😭

What happen to this?? waiting in line for your turn!

The guy that waited in line and then got tired bought a Mercedes instead so the salesman had the option to call his customers on a wait list. This doesn’t take away any priority of anybody else who had an order. Start calling dealers if you get tired of waiting!

Slow your roll! :)

The car business is pretty effed up, no doubt.

But most industries in our beloved capitalist system are based on customer deception and shell games. Think about it.

A few examples...

Health care
Insurance
Airlines
Mortgage industry
Grocery stores
Contractors
Builders
Investments
Credit cards
Higher education
Facebook

And, if it's any consolation, most car salespeople are getting screwed by the dealers they work for.

Yes, the entire new car sales industry is based on customer deception and shell games.

The bed is not structural. The roof is.

Liability for dealer and likely Ford.

I'm not sure exactly what "Odds are" means here... But if you mean "probably yes but maybe no" then I agree with you. I'm always on board for a "maybe."

As for the business about not unloading it, that seems unlikely to me. They unload these rail cars from the end, so you have to drive the ones at the "door end" out to get to the ones behind them. (So... for it to stay in the rail car it would have to be the last one in line, they would have to notice the damage while it's still in the rail car, and there would have to be some operational reason to leave it there.)
Odds are = maybe while leaning in the indicated direction.
I never unloaded vehicles from rail but all cars are unloaded in a manner determined by their design. When upon opening a rail car which had apparent damaged products unloading was ceased at that point and railroad was notified for their inspection. Was damaged by humping or something becoming detached (not likely unless rail car was involved in train wreck or whatever) or to determine if load was improperly secured and damage could be because of improper loading procedures. Yes rail car could sit for days after the door was opened or partially unloaded. .....

I wasn’t so particular about the color as I was about the trim. I definitely want a Lariat hey and now I’m on my way to go pick one up that I just got a call on🙂
