I have a ski trip coming up this weekend with the wife and kid, i have an old Tule ski rack for a car I no longer own, and figured I could mount them to some 2X4’s. My skis were a little long and had to fit in sideways as I wanted to close the tailgate. And the best part is being able to close the tonneau cover!

Nice work!! What is the length of the Head skis? I have 174cm skis and am wondering how I can make something like this work.

I quick calculated bed diagonal and using your given length I am thinking it may take placing your skis bottom to bottom on edge as it appears to be real close. They most certainly could not be carried flat as the OP has his. He could carry his on edge and free up some space it appears.

Thank you! I agree with on edge adding room. I’ll post my solution if and when I get my Maverick.

When I get my XLT I am going to work first on a diy flat bed cover then next will be a light weight cab height bed cap both of which I may post. Both these will be time consuming to make and not worth the trouble in themselves but if I make patterns and jigs I could turn them out economically in groups of 6-8, I think.

My skis are 188cm and do not fit on a diagonal.

Love seeing these DIY's, nice work! Are the 2x4's held down by anything, or are they 'free-floating'? I see your bedcover, so probably not an issue for you, but if someone doesn't have a cover, how will it work?

Nice work! I'm wondering if you could use the two slots below and sort of angle longer skis out of the back of the bed with the tailgate closed? Might try that with my snowboard when i get my maverick.

Glad to see someone putting skis where they belong. I can't tell you how many times I see an oversized SUV or van with a ski rack on top, when those skis would easily fit inside. But I suppose if they did then people wouldn't know that they ski!

great job!

Question about your roll up tonneau, does it keep the bed dry inside or does it let water in?
