What does "reserved in your name" mean? Is this a custom order that was put in for you and your Maverick was scheduled, built, and delivered? Or by "reserved" do you mean you saw it on the dealers lot and told them you wanted it so they "reserved" it for you?
It is a custom order that was put in for me and is scheduled, built, and has a delivery date for 01/20.

Yup! I would love to get some more knowledge and understanding on this. I'm happy to travel anywhere in the connected united states to pick up a FE hybrid Mav at MSRP. Can Ford transfer this reservation to a different dealership that wont pressure me with a markup?
I am really sorry but there is no chance that you find a hybrid FE in the US at MSRP. Your best bet is to raise hell with your dealer - demand to see the Sales Manager then GM, Do contact Ford and create a complaint and let them know you are doing that ( dont expect any quick action btw ) Let them know you will post a bad review everywhere you can .... at the end of the day you are dealing with a scumbag dealership and do your best to get them to come down - if they wont then you have to ask yourself if it is worth it. You are also free after you buy the truck to file a small claims court in your local court and they may give you a refund as thay will cost them WAY more money that you. Once that truck is sold and it isnt in your driveway not much you can do to them - you would have to wait till this summer to order a hybrid and then you couldnt get a FE.

I didn’t look to see first edition. Probably going to be slim pickings. It could happen though. Someone might walk and a lot of work. Might be cheaper to pay $2,500 than spend months searching.
This was my view. I HATE the idea of having paying these dealerships a single extra dime but what can I do? If I leave to get the car else where I would be looking at another 7 month wait no doubt unless I get lucky with a car on a lot without a markup.

Yup! I told them that and they said they were still going to charge me regardless.
They want you to walk so they can inflate the price even more for the next guy. They're holding all of the cards unless you have a purchase agreement signed by both parties.

Ok you've got a lot more to work with than you think. Do you have any paperwork that confirms what the price was when you put in the order? The final price? A line by line breakout that does not have this "Texas Protection Package" added?

Try to meet them half way. Or just say you will give them $1,000 to not do the the $2,500 package.

I like that idea. I'll definitely try that.

Btw, they are claiming that my Military Appreciation discount is already a reduction towards the required package!

Scumbag dealer. I know this means nothing now, but I actually stopped at that exact dealership to look at a maverick on the lot that was already sold and obviously I got swarmed by salesman. I asked the salesman if I ordered one from you guys would you mark it up? He assured me it would not be marked up and would be sold at MSRP. Glad I did not end up ordering through them

They told me the same thing. They are arguing that the Texas Protection Package is not a markup but protective measures they put all on all new vehicles. There for it does not violate their initial hand shake agreement of no dealership markup.

They are extra sketchy.

I would love for a definitive answer on whether a DORA - which is all most Maverick orders received is binding - either with Ford Corporate or legally. From what I can tell it really is only an order with Ford Corporate to build a vehicle and the dealership can do what they want after they receive it because you are buying it it really from them. The whole system without a true purchase order is slimy.

Just thought I would share this with the Texas Maverick community.

My vehicle is scheduled to arrive later this month so I went to the dealership to prep paperwork. While I was looking at the price sheet there was a $2,500 "Texas Protection Package" that included paint/leather protection (no exact details on what they are doing to provide protection), vin etching, and window tints.

I pointed out that these things individually don't even add up to $2,500 and my sales man said "this is pretty much a non negotiable for all cars from this dealership, if you had bought this ford as an inventory item we would be charging a much much higher mark up"

Given that I've already been truck-less and waiting for such a long time for the Maverick to arrive, I feel forced to eat this $2,500 markup.

I hope that this will inform others to find a different dealer that isn't going to be predatory on prices given the current state of the supply chain.
Sorry this has happened to you.

There have been numerous warnings here on this site that dealers can add charges to the final bill unless you had a "Buyer's Order" done that listed all fees/charges with a final total out-the-door cost agreed by and signed by the buyer and the general/sales manager.

Tim @fordvideoguy has stated in his videos about this problem of additional charges on delivery and to get a "Buyer's Order" done to protect yourself from unscrupulous dealers.

On my Maverick I had a "Buyer's Order" done with everything listed and had no surprises when paying for my Maverick on delivery.

Any other documentation like a DORA signed by only the buyer or any document without a final out-the-door price not listed is not a valid contract.

As seen below on both the "Buyer's Order" and the original DORA my cost was $24,173.85 for my Maverick with the total out-the-door cost of $26,068.21 after $150 Doc Fee, Sales Tax and other mandatory legitimate state fees.

The agreed upon price of $26,068.21 is exactly what I paid.

I strongly recommend that anyone here either ordering a Maverick or has one on order to have a signed "Buyer's Order" done that lists all fees/charges with a final total out-the-door cost agreed by and signed by the buyer and the general/sales manager for protection from surprise costs at time of delivery.

My military appreciation rebate is NOT included in the MSRP. I am getting that $500 dollars off.

Are you active duty? Do you have any interactions with the local bases? I would contact public affairs on Randolph/Lackland AFB and/or Ft. Sam and let them know how Red treats veterans in San Antonio.

Turn up the heat!

Yes that does help. It's true you do not have a signed buyers order like @hhnvubu has but this is still leverage.

First, never ever ever get emotionally involved in a price negotiation. It's just business. If you show your emotions or start going crazy and get all fired up you are just giving them more leverage. They want you to walk away so they can keep this package added and jack up the MSRP on the next guy.

Now, consider where you have leverage. You dealer has leverage in that they are holding the vehicle and they have peopled lined up that would bay this bogus $2,500 plus even more! I agree they are in a strong position here but you have leverage to use as well as some negotiating "tricks". You have leverage in that they want a sale from you (since they have already devoted time to you) and they want your repeat business. You also have leverage in the fact that you can spread negative reviews about them. I would negotiate with the following steps (in this order order)

1. Ask to speak with their manager. Their manager is the decision maker of saying yes or no on these bs added packages. Don't go through your sales rep, go to the big boss.

2. I really do not see the value in this "Texas Protection Package", thanks but no thanks. If they say it's their policy to add this to all vehicles tell them that policy doesn't work for you and they should change their policy. Make this mark up their problem not yours.

3. I am confused, when we put in the order this package was not added. Why is it being added now? Everything laid out on this order sheet is what I wanted added, nothing else. No one told me this was a thing and this seems unfair and shady.

4. I know that dealerships make the most of their money in service, repeat service, for the life of the vehicle. I was planning on bringing my vehicle back in here for service but to be honest I will take my service business elsewhere if you don't remove this protection package.

5. I had set my budget at the price on the order sheet. Unfortunately this added package is a problem for my budget. Can you remove the protection package?

6. I need to discuss this with my wife, she is the one that has the final say in all this, I am just the messenger. I will need to come back next weekend with a final answer.

6. Dealer XYZ down the street has told me they do not add extra packages. I might have to transfer my order to them.

7. (This is where you "fall down in front of them". Imagine someone trips on their face. You would feel bad for them and rush over to help. You are going to "fall down" so they "feel bad"). I don't see why you all are adding this package when I do not want it. I was so excited for this vehicle and this is really ruining the whole experience. Now I am dealing with all this stress and back and forth trying to finalize this price when we already had an order sheet with the price. Is this how you treat all your customers? I'm not having a great experience here.

8. If they still wont budge you need to at least see if they will lower the price. You have already pointed out that these items add up to waaaaay less than what they are charging. Ask if they can meet you in the middle. Tell them that paying $500 for the package is your best and final offer. It's all you can squeeze out of your budget.

9. If none of the above works then you can either walk away or pay the fee. This negotiation will take some time but just think about how much money you make per hour at your job and look at $2,500 (plus even more if this is being added to a loan and that $2,500 will have interest applied to it over the life of the loan) in terms of hours you would need to work. I'm willing to bet you're ok with spending a day negotiating to try and save $2,500.

Good luck! Remember, in the end you can just accept and pay and you wont have to wait a year for another Maverick. But you should at least make a big attempt to get them to remove it.
